How to Read and Understand Positive Responses

Not sure what the response types mean? This article helps you interpret Positive Response details, including how to read timestamps, comments, and utility member status, so you can proceed with confidence.


Response Status Colors

  • 🟥 Red – No response yet from that utility member. They may still be processing your request.

  • Green – A response has been submitted. You're able to view the details.


What Each Response Includes

  • Response Type – Indicates the utility member’s reported status (e.g., Marked, Clear, In Conflict).

  • Timestamp – The date and time the response was entered into the system.

  • Additional Comments or Notes – Some utility members may provide extra context, such as “Water line marked 10 feet south of dig area” or contact information for follow-up.

If a response doesn’t make sense or appears incomplete, contact the utility member directly.

Important Note About Auto-Closed Responses

Sometimes, a ticket may show a green response even though no recent action was taken. This can happen if the system automatically closes a ticket due to its age.

  • System auto-closures occur when no response is submitted to Texas811 within 5 days.

  • These tickets will still appear green but not reflect the most current locate status.

✅ What You Should Do:
If a ticket appears to have been auto-closed:

  • Open the ticket’s response history to review all actions.

  • Look for any utility responses submitted before or after the system’s auto-close action.
