Roles and Permissions

Easily assign user roles and permission levels for all users

Written by Kim

Clearly defined roles and permission levels are crucial for maintaining data security and ensuring that users have appropriate access within your organization. Thrive provides a robust system for managing these, giving administrative users the power to control who can access what information and what actions they can perform. This not only safeguards candidate privacy but also minimizes the risk of user errors, such as accidental data deletion or modification.

Understanding Roles and Permissions

  • Roles: A role is a collection of predefined permissions. These can be standard out of the box or customized at a granular level.

  • Permissions: Permissions are specific actions that a user is allowed to perform. Examples include "Creating and Editing Projects, Companies, and People", "Generate Reports," or "Managing Users."

By assigning roles to users, you grant them all the permissions associated with that role. This simplifies user management and ensures consistency in access control.

System Roles: Predefined and Ready to Use

Thrive offers predefined System Roles that cater to common user needs. These roles vary depending on your tenant type and provide out-of-the-box permission levels, allowing you to quickly get started without having to create roles from scratch. While System Roles are not customizable, they offer a convenient starting point and include common Search team roles.

The names of system roles vary depending on your organization's Thrive setup. To view a list of all available roles, click the Admin icon (⚙️) in the bottom-left corner and select "Roles and Permissions" from the menu.

Custom Roles: Customize Thrive Access

Administrators can easily customize the appropriate access for each user if more specific and personalized permissions are required. This level of customization enables administrators to precisely adjust access based on individual needs, ensuring that users have the appropriate permissions without exposing sensitive data.
