The New Client Portal is live for clients!
Backchannel References
Recruiters can now clearly mark references as “Backchannels” during creation, with this designation always visible to internal users but completely hidden from hiring managers. The new workflow streamlines sharing, aligns the reference form with our Notes & Scorecards experience, and ensures privacy indicators are consistent throughout the platform. We’ve also backfilled and corrected historical data, so all backchannel references—past and present—are accurately labeled. Plus, new event tracking in PostHog gives us better insight into how these features are used, supporting ongoing improvements and compliance.
Key highlights:
Recruiters can select “Backchannel Reference” directly in the Add Reference form, with a simplified, single-column layout and an improved sharing workflow.
Internal users see clear backchannel/formal chips and privacy icons, while hiring managers never see or infer the reference type.
This update ensures backchannel references are handled with the right mix of transparency for recruiters and privacy for candidates and clients.
Merge Duplicate Profiles
Note: Merge Records is an admin-controlled permission. Contact your Thrive admins to request access.
Keep your people database clean by merging duplicate person records into a single, accurate profile.
Users with Merge Records permission can select any two people from the People index and merge them into one. Select the more complete profile and the feature will combines all compatible data — including candidacies, notes, outreaches, scorecards, events, documents, and off-limits history. Fields that can't be automatically resolved are surfaced as conflicts so you can choose the right profile to keep before confirming.
How it works:
Select exactly two people from the People index and click Merge Profiles in the bulk actions bar
Review which profile the system recommends keeping, or choose your own
Review conflicting fields before confirming — these are shown for review so you can make an informed choice
Confirm the merge — all history transfers to the surviving profile, Off-Limits statuses recalculate automatically, and the duplicate is permanently removed
Feature Enhancements
Log Outreach in Add to Project Modal
Recruiters can now seamlessly log candidate outreach directly from the "Add to Project" modal, eliminating the need to switch tabs or retrace steps. With a simple toggle, users can record outreach details, like type, subject, and message, while adding candidates, ensuring every touchpoint is captured in one smooth workflow.
Unified Team Management
We've introduced a single, streamlined way to add both internal team members and external client users to your project from the Team tab. Now, users can easily search for, add, or invite team members through a unified modal, complete with smart validation, error handling, and clear feedback. This update eliminates confusing separate workflows, making project access management faster and more intuitive for everyone.
Granular Project Report Controls
We've revamped the Project Summary Report configuration UI, giving recruiters precise, per-stage control over what content appears in client-facing reports. Now you can easily customize which pipeline stages, sections, and data fields are included. From individual checkboxes for overview tables, notes, and candidate profiles. This update streamlines report generation, ensures only the most relevant information is shared, and makes tailoring reports to client needs a breeze.
Candidate Owner Assignment Overhaul
We’ve made it easier and more intuitive to assign, view, and update candidate owners across all project views. Now, candidates are no longer auto-assigned an owner by default, ownership is clear and deliberate. You’ll see a new icon for unassigned candidates, streamlined dropdowns for picking or unassigning owners, and consistent placement of owner info on Kanban, side-panel, and long card views.
No More Accidental Browser “Back” Navigation in Project
We've improved the Kanban board experience by preventing accidental browser back-navigation when horizontally scrolling with a trackpad. Now, users can smoothly scroll left or right across all Kanban views (Projects, People, and Company pages) without being kicked out of their workflow, no matter their device settings. This update keeps your context intact and eliminates the need to change your computer’s native gestures just to use Thrive.
Smarter Filter Options
We've improved the Added by filter on the project details page, and well as the Lead and Team Member filters on the project index, to offer more relevant options.
The Added by filter will only display users who have actually added candidates to a given project, reducing friction in finding the relevant contributor.
The Lead and Team Member filters will only display internal users, making it easier to find and select the right people when filtering projects.
Smarter Project Selection in References/Referrals
We've upgraded the "Related to Project" dropdown in the References/Referrals form to use the same intuitive component as the “Add to Project” modal, making it much easier for users to find and select their own projects first. Now, your open, on hold, and opportunity projects are prioritized at the top.
Off Limits Enhancements
This release includes accuracy improvements and workflow updates to keep Off-Limits records reliable.
Improved accuracy We've cleaned up Off-Limits records that were displaying incorrectly, including:
Contractual Off-Limits that remained active after a project was marked Lost or Canceled
Placed Candidate Off-Limits records that were displaying without a corresponding active employment record
Workflow improvements to keep Off-Limits accurate going forward
Primary employment positions without a start date will now correctly trigger Off-Limits — this addresses imported records where a start date wasn't included
Moving a candidate manually to Hired will now create an employment record (or link an existing one) and apply Placed Candidate Off-Limits if enabled — and moving them out of Hired will remove both
Rejecting or deleting an accepted offer will now automatically remove the associated Placed Candidate Off-Limits and employment record
The contractual Off-Limits setup form on a project now defaults to the most commonly used settings: Employees Off-Limits on, Placed Candidate on, and duration set to Tenure at Company
Off-Limits visibility and clarity improvements
Off-Limits cards now show the restriction type as a labeled chip, the associated contract with a direct link, and the project lead + email - giving you the context and next steps you need at a glance
Placed Candidate Off-Limits now appears at the top of the list and is displayed with a bolder dark red chip to signal its higher severity
Active Off-Limits is now more visible across key surfaces with updated avatar styling and more specific chip labels
High Impact Bug Fixes
Blank Email in Guest Scorecard - Report Visibility Fix Guest scorecards added to candidates without an email address were not appearing in candidate reports. This update ensures that scorecards are now visible in reports even if the email field is left blank, improving report accuracy for all candidate assessments.
Cleaner Company ‘Notes’ Feed Fixed an issue where the Company Notes tab was cluttered with irrelevant project and candidate notes, making it hard to focus on company-specific insights. Now, toggling “Company only” ensures you see just the notes about the company and its employees. No more noise from unrelated projects, rejections, or hiring manager notes.
Accent-insensitive Candidate Search Fixed an issue where searching for candidates by name would not return results if the search omitted accented characters (e.g., searching "Desiree" would not find "Désirée"). Users can now find candidates regardless of whether they include accents in their search, making it easier to locate people with accented names.
In addition to the fixes above, we’ve addressed a range of smaller bugs and UI issues to keep Thrive running smoothly.
