Looking to engage your students with some friendly competition on Times Tables Rock Stars? This article will walk you through how to set up battles, use Arena to race against your class, and use Rock Slam to challenge individual students.
β‘Set Up a Battle between Students and Teachers!
A Battle of the Bands allows you to pit your class against each other or even against the teachers! It's a great way to foster teamwork, improve speed, and have some fun and ensure the students and teachers on the account log on and play!
Start by logging into your teacher dashboard.
Navigate to the 'Tournaments' section in the left-hand menu.
Choose Battle of the Bands > Create a New Battle:
Select the classes or groups that will participate and select Teachers
Set the date range for the battle to take place.
Monitor Progress: As your students play, their points will automatically be tallied. It's one point per correct answer on ANY game mode. You can view live updates in the 'Tournaments' tab to see which class or student is leading.
Celebrate Results: Once the battle concludes, celebrate the winning class or student (or teachers!) by downloading MVP certificates!
π€π€ Pro Tip: Use battles on launch days and remind teachers in the staff room it is a team effort to play against the students!
π Use Arena to Race Your Class LIVE
Multiplayer game mode Arena allows you and your students to compete in real-time races, adding a fun, fast-paced twist to your times tables practice.
Log in to Your Teacher Account: Once you're logged in, click on the 'play icon' top right> Multiplayer> Arena.
Use the dropdown to select the correct class (or choose "whole school").
Choose the Arena you want to play in: Make sure to tell your students which Arena to enter. They must all enter the same one as you.
Click in the purple bar next to the Arena image (not "Spectate Mode") which will include you in the game alongside the students.
Compete! Once the game begins, you'll see questions appear on the screen, and you can race against your students to answer as many questions correctly as possible within the time limit.
Check the Leaderboard: At the end of the Arena, the leaderboard will show who answered the most questions correctly in the fastest time.
π€π€ Pro Tip: Arena can accommodate multiple students, so it's perfect for whole-class participation or smaller groups wanting to play against you or your colleagues live! You can even click Spectate Mode to beam the scores up onto the screen.
