Upload video and audio files to tl;dv

Written by Suellen Lorga

You can upload video and audio files directly to tl;dv to generate transcripts, summaries, and AI insights from recordings you've already captured elsewhere.

Uploaded files are automatically transcribed and summarized.

Speaker recognition isn't currently available for uploads, so speakers will appear as Speaker 1, Speaker 2, and so on.

Before you upload

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Uploaded videos must be 3 hours or less.

  • Uploads are currently in beta.

  • Some very large files may not upload successfully.

Upload a file

  • Click Select files.

  • Choose the video or audio file you'd like to upload.

  • Leave the upload window open while the file uploads and is processed.

Note: On the free plan, you can upload up to 3 files. There is no upload limit on the Pro or Business plans.

Important: Keep the upload window open

The upload window must remain open until your file has been added to the Uploads page.

If you close the upload window, refresh the page, close the browser tab, or navigate away in the same tab before this happens, the upload will be canceled.

Once the file appears in your Uploads list, processing continues in the background and the upload window can be safely closed.

Sharing and visibility

Uploaded recordings follow your existing sharing preferences.

Depending on your settings, uploaded recordings may be:

  • Visible only to you

  • Shared with your Team

  • Shared with your Organization

Automatic email notifications and note sharing will also follow your existing preferences.

If you don't want a recording to be shared automatically, update your sharing preferences before uploading or adjust the sharing settings on the meeting page after the upload is complete.

Troubleshooting uploads

If an upload doesn't complete successfully:

  • Try uploading the file again.

  • If it still doesn't work, try again after reducing the file size or exporting a smaller version.

  • Confirm the video is no longer than 3 hours.

Upload appears stuck on "Loading"

Because the Uploads page is currently in beta, failed uploads may continue to appear with a loading status indefinitely.

If an upload has been showing as Loading for an unusually long time (for example, several hours or days), it's likely the upload did not complete successfully.

In this case:

  • Ignore the loading entry.

  • Start a new upload using the original file.

  • If needed, try uploading the file again a second or third time.

At the moment, it's not possible to retry, edit, or remove failed upload attempts from the Uploads page.
