Transfer an Existing App to the Branded Mobile App
When launching a Branded Mobile App with Toast, you can make the transition seamless for guests using an existing app by transferring the app into an account that you own and overwriting it with your new Branded Mobile App. This means your new app will appear as an update available on their device, and guests will not need to delete an old app or redownload a new one.
When transferring your app to another account, such as transferring it to our organization, the process varies depending on whether it is an Apple App or a Google App. This guide provides step-by-step instructions for both platforms to help you self-service the app transfer process.
Transfer Your Existing Apple App to Branded Mobile App
Apple allows developers to transfer apps between Apple Developer Program accounts while retaining app data, reviews, and availability. Follow these steps:
Before you begin: Visit the App Store listing for your current app. If you see the name of your current app provider beneath the app name, your app is in an account controlled by that provider. You must work with them to transfer your app into an account that you own before overwriting the existing app.
Check Eligibility for App Transfer
Inform your current app developer about the transfer. They will need to move the existing app to an account that you own. Ensure you have an Organization account created, as it contains the necessary details.
Gather Necessary Information
You will need:
The Apple ID of the receiving account: This is the email address associated with your new account’s Apple Developer Program.
The Team ID of the receiving account: This unique identifier is available in the Membership section of the Apple Developer account. The receiving account can locate it by:
Logging into their Apple Developer account.
