Teams use the Advanced Variance Report to see an in-depth view of any project tasks that aren't going according to plan. Rather than focusing only on tasks that were pinned down for the selected time frame (see Basic Variance Report), this report will show all tasks that aren't going according to plan - even if they were late last week, but on time this week. It will show you any tasks with a variance reason in its history.

This list of missed pin scenarios below correspond with the example underneath:

Task 1: Tasks with pins that should have been updated (they were scheduled to complete in the past)

Task 2: Tasks that were late and had been pushed into the current time frame, but are still without a current status update

Task 3: Tasks that were late and had been pushed into the current time frame, but are marked as complete

Task 4: Tasks that were pinned down this week, but were pushed into next week and repinned

Task 5: Pinned ticket in this time frame that was late

The report shows:

  • How many times the ticket was missed out of the total times it was pinned down (missed pins)

  • The actual completion date (if available)

  • The current scheduled date for completion (if it hasn't been completed yet)

  • The original scheduled completion date

  • The reason(s) why task(s) have been pushed out

The only tasks that will not show on this report are tasks that were pinned within the selected time frame and completed on time. This report will show any tasks that had been missed in the past, are late in the current period or have been pushed into the future.

Note: Tasks in the past that haven't been updated yet are assumed to be late and will appear on this report.

For tasks that have been pushed out repeatedly, you will see their entire variance reason history.
