Competitions often apply maximum Playing Handicaps or Handicap Indexes. When doing so players who have Playing Handicaps or Handicap Indexes that exceed the maximum, are reduced to the maximum allowable Playing Handicap/Handicap Index.
For a maximum Handicap Index, if a player's Handicap Index exceeds the maximum Handicap Index, then it will be reduced to the maximum before calculating Playing Handicap. For a maximum Playing Handicap, if a player's Playing Handicap exceeds the maximum Playing Handicap, then it will be reduced to the maximum.
If you enter a maximum Handicap Index and maximum Playing Handicap, the maximum Handicap Index will be applied first and "trimmed" (if necessary). If, after "trimming" the Handicap Index, the Playing Handicap for the player still exceeds the maximum Playing Handicap, we will "trim" again so that the Playing Handicap is set at the maximum Playing Handicap.

The maximum Handicap Index and Playing Handicap settings can be controlled in the following areas:
Default Settings for Leagues or Events: Applies to all events/leagues
Event/League Profile: Applies to a specific event/league
Round Profile: Applies to a specific round within an event/league
Tournament Setup: Applies to a specific single round or multi-round tournament
If the gender of your players is stored in your master/event roster, you can set the maximums by gender. Otherwise, the maximums can only be set for all players.
In this article, we will discuss how to control these settings in the four areas.
Default Settings for Leagues or Events:
If you have a standard maximum Playing Handicap or Handicap Index that is enforced in all of your events and leagues, we suggest applying it in the Default Settings for Leagues or Events. To do this, follow these instructions:
Go to Customer Center > Customer Settings > Default Settings for Leagues or Events > Handicap Settings (as shown below).
Enter the maximum Handicap Indexes or Playing Handicaps.
Click "Save".
Any new event or league that is then created, will inherit these settings. To apply these settings to an event or league that has already been created, go to the Event/League Profile for those specific events/leagues (discussed in the next section).
Event/League Profile:
If you'd like to apply maximum Playing Handicaps or Handicap Indexes for a specific event/league, follow these instructions:
Go to Event/League > Event/League Profile > Handicap Settings (as shown below).
Enter the maximum Handicap Indexes or Playing Handicaps.
If there are already tournaments set up in any future rounds, optionally select the option to propagate the changes to those tournaments.
Click "Save".
The settings will then be applied.
Round Profile:
If you'd like to apply maximum Playing Handicaps or Handicap Indexes for a specific round, follow these instructions:
Go to Rounds > Round Profile > Handicap Settings (as shown below).
βEnter the maximum Handicap Indexes or Playing Handicaps.
Optionally select "Propagate changes to tournaments in this round" if you'd like to apply these settings to all current single round tournaments within the round (multi-round tournament settings should be controlled at the tournament level, discussed in the next section).
Click "Save".
The settings will then be applied.
Tournament Setup:
If you'd like to apply maximum Playing Handicaps or Handicap Indexes for a specific tournament, follow these instructions:
Go to the tournament setup for the multi-round or single round tournament.
Select the Advanced Handicap Options (as shown below).
Select the options to apply maximum Playing Handicaps or Handicap Indexes and enter the values (as shown below).
βClick "Continue".
Save the tournament setup.
The settings will then be applied to the specific tournament.
If you'd like to remove a maximum Playing Handicap or Handicap Index from a tournament, go to the tournament setup and unselect the options (they will grey out).
