Updating Handicap Indexes from Spreadsheet

Updated over 5 months ago

If your handicap service provider does not integrate with us, then the best option is to update Handicap Indexes via spreadsheet. In this article, we will discuss how to update Handicap Indexes for a specific event/league or your entire master roster.

Updating Handicap Indexes to an Event or League via Spreadsheet:

Follow these steps to update the Handicap Indexes for an event/league via spreadsheet:

  1. From your handicapping source, download the newest version of your roster onto a spreadsheet with the new Handicap Indexes on it. Ensure you have a column with a unique identifier (e.g., Membership ID, Handicap Service ID, etc.) and a column with their new Handicap Index.

(Note: You will need a field in that spreadsheet that can be used as a unique identifier. To be unique, two or more players cannot have the same answer to that field. For instance, email address could be used as the unique identifier, but if a couple shares the same email address, that will not work. Also, remember that this unique identifier field must also be included in the player roster before trying to update Handicap Indexes through a spreadsheet. Usually, the unique identifier is the player's Handicap Service ID.)

  2. Go to Golfers > Update Handicaps from Spreadsheet.

  3. Click on "Choose File" and select the file with the updated Handicap Indexes.

  4. Click "Upload".

  5. Choose the columns that correctly identify the players (unique identifier) and the column with the Handicap Index (as shown below). If you cannot select the unique identifier, it is likely because the column is not unique (possibly duplicate players on the spreadsheet).

  6. Click "Import Handicaps," and the Handicap Indexes for the event/league will then be updated.

Updating Handicap Indexes to your Master Roster via Spreadsheet:

You can also update Handicap Indexes for your entire Master Roster. These updated Handicap Indexes can then be propagated to your future events and leagues. To do this, follow these instructions:

  1. From your handicapping source, download the newest version of your roster onto a spreadsheet with the new Handicap Indexes on it. Ensure you have a column with a unique identifier (e.g., Membership ID, Handicap Service ID, etc) and a column with their new Handicap Index.

  2. Go to Customer Center > Master Roster > Update Handicaps from Spreadsheet.

  6. Click "Import Handicaps," and the Handicap Indexes for the Master Roster will then be updated.
