One of the most common formats of play is a Match tournament. Match Format tournaments can be created when setting up a Bracket or using the Round Robin Scheduler. This format can also be used when setting up multi-round and single round tournaments. Note: This format can also be used when setting up a round with No-Tee Sheet.
When setting up a Match play tournament format, there are several options to enter results:
Entering Hole-by-Hole Scores: Enter scores hole-by-hole. Golf Genius will facilitate entering hole-by-hole and final round results on the leaderboard and calculate points earned based on the tournament setup.
Entering Hole-by-Hole Match Results: (Note: If you want this feature enabled, please contact support.) Only enter hole-by-hole results (i.e., W, T). No need to enter scores. Golf Genius will facilitate entering final leaderboard results and calculating points earned based on the tournament setup. Note: Scores cannot be posted to your Handicap Provider.
Enter Final Match Results: Only enter the final results of the match. No hole-by-hole scores/results will be calculated. When using this option, final round results and points/purse will be entered manually. Note: Scores cannot be posted to your Handicap Provider.
After setting your preferred method for your event, scores or results will be entered to generate a leaderboard. When entering scores or results, this can be done via two methods:
The Manager Site (For Managers): Managers will transpose scores or results for the scorecard to the score/result entry page on the manager's site for each golfer/pair.
The Mobile App or Club App (For Golfers): Note: This feature is only available for TM Club Premium Customers. The golfers enter scores/results on the mobile app, which populates scores/results on the manager's site.
This article will discuss enabling the preferred method for entering scores or results and how to enter scores or results via the manager site or mobile app.
Selecting Score/Result Entry Method:
Note: If you are using the Club App and setting up a Bracket Tournament, you can select the Score/Result Entry Method when setting up your Bracket event.
To select your preferred method of entering scores/results on the manager site and mobile app, follow these instructions:
Go to Event/League > Event/League Profile > Tournaments & Scoring > Totals or Hole-by-Hole Scores. Note: If you only want to make this adjustment for a specific round, go to Round > Round Profile > Tournaments & Scoring > Totals or Hole-by-Hole Scores.
Define the following based on your selected method of entering scores/results:
Entering Hole-by-Hole Scores: Select "for each hole" to indicate how you want to enter scores. Set "Stokes" as the format for entering match results (as shown below).
Entering Hole-by-Hole Match Results: Set the option "How would you like to enter scores?" as "for each hole." Set "Winner per Hole" as the method for entering match results (as shown below).
Enter Final Match Results: Set the option "How would you like to enter scores?" to "as 9/18-hole totals" (as shown below).

Scores or results need to be entered to generate a leaderboard. Below, we will go into greater detail entering scores or results from the manager site or enabling and entering scores on the mobile app for the available score/result entry methods:

The Managers Site: Go to Rounds > Enter Scores. For completed details on entering scores on the manager site, Click Here.
The Mobile App or Club App (For Golfers): The golfers will enter scores (as shown below) on the mobile app. Golf Genius will calculate the winner for each hole and populate results on the manager's site. Golfers can enter scores for each hole until the match is completed.

Entering Hole-by-Hole Match Results:

Only Win (^) or Tie (-) must be entered when entering hole-by-hole results to generate a leaderboard. This can be done in two places:
The Manager Site: Go to Rounds > Enter Hole-by-Hole Match Results. The manager can select a pairing group and enter the match results for the hole as Win (^) or Tie (-). Then, save the results by clicking "Done."
The Mobile App or Club App (For Golfers): The golfers will enter results (as shown below) on the mobile app, which will populate results on the manager's site. Golfers can select the winner for a hole or leave it as "Tied." They will do this for every hole until the match is completed.
Round GGID (For Managers): Managers can also enter hole-by-hole match results on the mobile app by logging in with a Round GGID. Since a Round GGID isn't tied to a single pairing group, they will first select the foursome to enter results for, then continue as described above.

Note: Once hole-by-hole match results are entered for a match, the Enter Match Results page is locked for that match — the winner selection, status field, and clear-result link are disabled, and an informational message is displayed instead. The Hole-by-Hole Match Results page remains fully editable at all times.
Entering Final Match Results:
Only the final results and points/purse of the match will be entered when entering final match results. This can be done in two places:
The Manager Site: Go to Rounds > Enter Match Results (as shown below).
If you have set your tournament to award points: Enter the points for each golfer or pair and the final results (as shown below). Note: If you have included a purse, you can enter a purse for each individual/pair.
If you are not awarding points: Select the winning individual or pair and enter the final results (as shown below). Note: If you have included a purse, you can enter a purse for each individual/pair.

The Mobile App or Club App (For Golfers): The golfers will enter the final results (as shown below) on the mobile app, which will populate results on the manager's site. They can select the winner and enter additional text for the final results (e.g., 1up, 3&2, etc.).

Note: If hole-by-hole match results have already been entered for a match, the Enter Match Results page will be locked for that match (see Entering Hole-by-Hole Match Results above). If final match results are entered here before hole-by-hole results, the Hole-by-Hole Match Results page will display a "Final Result Populated" message but remains editable.
