How can I set up a (Gross) Parent-Child Alternate Shot Tournament?

Updated over 4 months ago

Q: We play alternate shot in our Parent-Child Tournament. If the parent has multiple children, each child/parent combo is considered a team. Because this format requires the pairings to be organized by team, I am unable to properly organize the pairings so that a team is created for every parent/child combo. How can I set up this type of format?

A: This setup can be accomplished for a gross event, by setting the player name as the team name. For example, if Tom Jones (Dad) plays with April Jones (Daughter), they the player name would be Tom Jones/April Jones.

If the tournament is a net competition, Click Here for details on setting up a Net Parent-Child Alt Shot tournament.

To set up a gross parent-child alternate shot tournament, Follow these instructions:

  1. Add the players manually. Enter the team name as "last name" for every team (as shown below).

  2. Create the pairings manually. Each pairing group should include all parent/child combos for a family.

  3. Set up the tournament. The tournament should be set up as player v. field. If Playing Handicaps are not used, set up the tournament as gross (as shown below).
