TV Shows Leaderboard

Updated over 4 months ago

This feature is only available with the following products:

Traditionally leaderboards are printed and posted on a board or wall. As players finish their rounds, scores are handwritten on the printed scoreboards. Then came our TV Display Leaderboards, which allow you to throw away the pen and paper and give your players an instant and professional-looking leaderboard using a monitor, TV, or projector.

With the TV Show feature, you have more control over your leaderboards' design, header, and footer customization, split screen functionality, and other enhancements. If you are looking for a specific theme for your TV Show, use our TV Show Themes.

You'll also be able to create various TV Shows, enabling managers to display multiple shows containing different content on separate screens simultaneously. This is very handy when you have multiple divisions or flights and would like to display each division or flight on separate displays.

If you don't have multiple displays, you can use the split screen option to display multiple divisions or flights simultaneously (as shown below).

In this article, we will discuss how to manage, add them to a library, design, and display your TV Shows.

  • GGID: TV Shows have a unique 6-digit GGID that can be used to see the TV through a web page or the Fire TV Stick.

  • Actions: You can edit or delete an existing slide show.

Below, you can find more details about managing the background, header/footer, slides, and themes.

TV Show Background

When creating a new TV Show, you can upload a new background image or select an existing image previously used in TV Shows. The background will add character and color to your TV Show Leaderboards. They let you show off a feature hole, the course or club logo, or any other image for a specific event/league.

To add or change the background, follow these instructions:

  1. Click "Change."

  2. Select an Existing Image and click "Select Background."

  3. If not using an existing image, click "Choose File."

  4. Navigate to the proper image and click "Open."

  5. Add an "Image Title." The title will allow for quick searching of a background image.

  6. Click "Upload Background Image" (as shown below).

Note 1: The file types must be either: jpg, jpeg, gif (static image), or png. The maximum file size is 6 MB.

Note 2: It is highly recommended to upload a high-resolution image. Lower-resolution images are not recommended because they will become grainy.

TV Show Header/Footer:

The header area is the space above the leaderboard that may include your logo and header information (e.g., event name, event date). To edit the header, while editing the TV Show, click "Edit," and you will be taken to the Header Edit page (as shown below).

When editing the Header/Footers, you have the following options:

  • Visible/Hidden: This allows you to set the header to be displayed or hidden on the TV Show.

  • Preview: As you modify the Header/Footer, the Preview will show you the changes in real time.

  • Edit: The Edit area allows you to enter the desired text in the editor or select from the available dynamic data fields below the text editor.

  • Fields: The list of dynamic data fields available to add to the text.

  • Left/Right Logo (Header Only): You can add logos to the left and right of the text in the header.

  • Header Height: You can adjust the header/footer area height if necessary. For instance, decreasing the height will create more space for the actual leaderboard. Keep in mind that the information will remain the same size when adjusting the height.

  • Background: You have several options for the Header/Footer background. These include:

    • None: Does not display the background for the header. Remember that the text may be hard to see if you have a TV Show Background.

    • Color: The color is shown behind the Header/Footer text. There are a few standard color options for the color scheme and a color code picker where you can enter HEX or RGBA color code values to find a specific color.

    • Image: The image allows you to add some character to your leaderboard. Remember that if you have a TV Show Background, adding an image to the Header/Foot might become distracting. (Note: The file types must be either: jpg, jpeg, gif (static image), or png. For the banner to be aligned, ensure the image size is 980 pixels wide with a height range from 180 pixels to 250 pixels.)

  • Background Opacity: You can also adjust the opacity of the header/footer background. When using a color background, moving the opacity slider makes the color darker or lighter and adds transparency. When using an image background, lightening the opacity sometimes makes it easier to read the text.

TV Show Slides:

Slides are how you display event details on the TV Show. You can add multiple slides to the TV Show that will be rotated through the display. You can define your slides or even configure a split screen with two slides in (as shown below).

The following Slide options are available:

  • Leaderboard

  • Photos

  • Video

  • Text

Below you will find details on how to add each slide type.

Leaderboard Slide

To add a new leaderboard slide, click "Add New Leaderboard," and you will be presented with the leaderboard slide designer (as shown below).

Note: For match play tournaments, if you use flights and would like to display them across different displays, the flights must be created as divisions to display them on different displays.

Define the following:

  • Visible/Hidden: Hide or display this slide.

  • Tournament Data: You can pick a specific round for multi-round events/leagues and a specific tournament within that round.

  • Divisions: This allows you to determine which divisions and flights within a division should be shown on a specific slide.

  • Scroll Rate: You can specify how long the page will be displayed.

  • Background: Set the opacity of the leaderboard slide's background.

Note: For match play, if you use flights and would like to display them in different slides or side by side on a split screen, they must be created as divisions.

Photos Slide

To add a new Photo slide, click "Add Photos Slide," and you will be presented with the photo slide designer (as shown below).

Define the following:

  • Visible/Hidden: Hide or display this slide.

  • Name: Name the slide to make it easier to identify.

  • Select Album: If you have a Photo Album populated in your event, you can add the entire album to the slide or select specific photos within the album.

  • Upload to Roll: Select photos from your computer to be added to the photo album slide.

  • Photo Roll: This displays the photos and albums used to populate the photo album slide. You can remove selected photos or albums by clicking the trash icon under the picture.

Define the following:

  • Visible/Hidden: Hide or display this slide.

  • YouTube Link: Insert the Youtube video URL link here.

The text slide allows you to display static text within your TV Show. To add a new Text slide, click "Add Text Slide," and you will be presented with the text slide designer (as shown below).

Define the following:

  • Color: Set the background color of the text area.

  • Body: Enter the text to be displayed on the slide. You can also use dynamic fields to be included in the body of the text.

Configuring Split Screen Slides:

You can also display a split-screen slide that uses multiple single slides. This can be useful if you would like to display multiple divisions or flights at the same time.

To add a split-screen slide, follow these instructions:

  1. Click "Configure Split Screen"

  2. Click the left or right slide area and either 1) select to use a current leaderboard or 2) create a new leaderboard.

  3. Repeat the previous step for the other slide area.

  4. Click "Next."

  5. Format the slide headers.

  6. Click "Add."

In the sequence below, we are adding a split-screen slide that includes a current stroke play leaderboard (on the left) and a new leaderboard for the skins tournament (on the right).

Once slides have been created, you can drag and drop them to change the order. You will also be able to change their visibility (as shown below).

You will also be able to delete your existing slides. If you delete a leaderboard slide, it will be removed immediately. If you delete a split-screen slide, you will be given two options (as shown below):

  • Delete this slide only: This option will keep the right and left slides, but the advanced slide will be deleted.

  • Delete this slide and its contained slides: Choosing this option automatically deletes the split screen slide and all its containing slides (right and left side slides).

TV Show Display Settings:

Once the TV Show is presented on the Display, you can manage the settings (as shown below).

Scroll your mouse or click up with a remote to the top center area, and you will see the settings panel. There are several display options available:

  • Font Size: Increasing the font size will make the text easier to view. Decreasing the font size to create more space for more names/teams on one page.

  • Scroll Rate: Move the slider bar to the right to increase the scroll rate. Move it to the left to decrease.

  • Top Margin: Different TVs require different margin adjustments. Move the Top margin up or down to fit the TV display.

  • Bottom Margin: Different TVs require different margin adjustments. Move the Bottom margin up or down to fit the TV display.

  • Side Margin: Widening the display width will allow more text on each row, creating space for more players/teams on each page. Do not increase the display width so much that the display is cut off from the TV.

  • Header Height: The header area is the space above the leaderboard that may include your logo and header information (e.g., event name, event date). You can adjust the height of the header area if necessary. For instance, decreasing the header height will create more space for the leaderboard. Keep in mind that the header information will remain the same size when adjusting the height.

  • Footer Height: The footer area is the space below the leaderboard that may include footer information (e.g., event name, event date, division name). You can adjust the height of the footer area if necessary. For instance, decreasing the footer height will create more space for the leaderboard. Keep in mind that the footer information will remain the same size when adjusting the height.

  • Ticker Display: If displaying the current leader for a tournament in the ticker above the results, you can choose to have the ticker scrolling centered, left justified, or right justified. Click Here for details.

  • Full Screen: Move in and out of full-screen mode. The full-screen mode gives the best overall display.
