1. Equipment/driver tags + calendar updates (Video)
Drivers and equipment can now have custom tags that are viewable and searchable from the load builder, the table view, the calendar, or the available assets list. Equipment subtypes were also added to the calendar and the asset availability list.
Why it matters: When you have specialized freight, you have drivers and equipment with certain capabilities. And, you have loads that require those capabilities. Assigning driver tags (such as hazmat or superload) or equipment tags (such as food-grade) allows you to search/filter drivers/equipment quickly.
Note: The driver tag list, the equipment tag list, and the orders/trips tag list are all managed separately. New tag types have to be created for each object.
2. Driver Pay Matrix Phase 1 - Percentage Pay (Video)
Percentage pay can now be assigned dynamically to certain services. Previously, percentage pay could be set to a single-line haul service.
With this update, here are a few scenarios you can more easily manage in Truckbase:
Paying a driver/OO a percentage of the line haul when you have three different services that make up the quote/unquote line haul for how you bill your customer.
Paying a driver/OO 80% of the line haul, 50% of the fuel surcharge, 25% of the permits, and 100% of detention.
Paying a driver 50% of the fuel surcharge when you have 3-4 different fuel surcharge "services" for per mile, percentage, or other structures for accounting.
To best take advantage of this feature, here are a few tips:
Copy Pay Profile: Start by building out one pay profile fully for a driver or owner-operator. Then, use the Copy Pay Profile feature to paste that profile to other drivers.
Linehaul in driver base pay: Select the services that you use for line haul in the driver's base paid calculation.
Accessorials paid to driver: For accessorials paid to the driver, set them as Trip Pay Defaults in the Driver Pay Profile with Unit set to Percentage. Apply the appropriate percentage to the services that should be calculated from.
This update is part of a set of enhancements to driver pay matrices we are making in 2026. please reach out to support@truckbase.com if you'd like additional training, have questions, or suggestions as we continue to enhance TruckBase's driver pay capabilities.
3. Empty miles engine updates (Video)
Reliable (and usable) empty miles calculations require both flexibility and traceability. Our new Empty Miles module allows you to quickly audit loaded miles and empty miles calculations as well as the empty miles calculation method from optional fields on the trips table: loaded miles, empty miles, empty miles method.
We have enabled five settings for empty miles calculations:
[Default] Most recent completed trip based on scheduled time
Most recent completed trip based on actual time
Most recent scheduled trip regardless of completion status
Manually select prior stop/empty point
Manually set empty miles
Your default setting can be configured in App settings > Orders and trips > Mileage calculation. However, this can be overridden at a trip level.
4. Assets list updates (Video) - beta
The Availability page has been renamed Assets list.
The asset list view now includes the option to view drivers, trucks, or trailers in a storyboard-like format for the following stops linked to their associated trip :
Where I was - the last completed stop
Where I am - the stop that that asset is in transit to or has arrived at
Where I will be next - the next scheduled stop for that asset
Where I will be empty - the stop that is scheduled furthest in the future for that asset
The upcoming (revised) Availability Map View will include the latest GPS location of a truck if it is connected to an ELD. Otherwise, it includes the location of the last stop update received associated with that truck. For drivers and trailers, the location on the map is currently only based on the last scheduled location.
Tips & tricks
Try adding equipment tags, driver tags, or equipment subtypes to create custom lists of different driver groups or equipment types to see availability, status, and location.
Saving a view of all of your trailers of a certain type or drivers with certain certifications can be a quick way to manage teams or requirements.
5. Exclude filter on tags (Video)
We added a new filter type to orders/trips tags that allows you to filter for loads that have certain tags and/or exclude loads that have other tags. This exclusion filter will be added to more filter options soon.
6. Comdata fuel integration (beta)
We've added a new fuel card integration for Comdata to automatically pull Comdata fuel transactions into Truckbase. This is currently only available for Comdata Mastercards. Comdata proprietary cards are coming soon.
If you would like to connect your Comdata card to TruckBase, please reach out to support@truckbase.com for the form to request access or to join the waitlist for other card types. Comdata can take anywhere from 5 to 15 days to turn around API access.
7. Trimble Maps Option to Replace Google (beta)
We have added the option to use Trimble Maps instead of Google Maps as your mapping and calendar engine. This works seamlessly with PC Miler and has added benefits for Trimble Maps locations.
If you would like access to this setting, it is available as a limited access beta. Please reach out to support@truckbase.com if you'd like early access.
