Use TryLinks to Optimize Conversion

Create TryNow entry points with TryLinks

Updated over 2 months ago

What are TryLinks?

TryLinks create high-converting entry points that render a Try Before You Buy-only experience. By creating a single-CTA experience, TryLinks reduce shopper decision-making and maximize conversion.

When a shopper goes through a TryLink, such as through clicking on the Try Before You Buy collection page, the shopper then sees the TryLink experience on a product page (shown below). The shopper can still toggle back to add to cart if desired.

You can think of TryLinks as creating different ways that shoppers can discover Try Before You Buy. Once a shopper discovers the option and clicks into an entry point, we want to make sure that we offer the highest-converting experience to them, which is a single-CTA experience.

What's the conversion rate increase I should expect?

TryNow brands typically see a 20%+ improvement compared to baselines. Many see 30-45% improvements in conversion rates for their marketing TryLinks.

Our TryLinks feature also allows you to easily track conversion rate in your Insights dashboard.

We recommend creating a new TryLink for each campaign, allowing you to track funnel metrics at a more granular level.

How should I use TryLinks?

At a minimum, we would recommend:

  • Try Before You Buy collection page linked in your main navigation

  • Homepage block featuring your Try Before You Buy collection page

  • An email in your welcome series featuring Try Before You Buy

However, there are many ways to use TryLinks:

How to create a TryLink

Note: If you have built a custom experience using a custom button, TryLinks will not be off-the-bat compatible. TryLinks relies on the usage of our TryNow button app block and app embed block.

Step 1: In the TryNow Merchant Portal > Navigate to the "Controls" tab > TryLinks

Step 2: Click "Add Link." Your store's domain is pre-populated. Add in the link of the page that you would like to turn into a TryLink. Name your link and hit Save.

Note: The name of your link can be based on the solution you're using it for (campaigns, use case, etc.). Example link names: customer experience associates, Meta, Klaviyo.

Step 3: You should now see a new TryLink in your TryLinks table.

You can click on the TryLink to verify the correct behavior - when navigating to a product page, you should see the single-CTA + toggle experience.

Your TryLink is now ready for use! Make sure you copy the URL in the TryLinks table (simply click the "Copy link to clipboard" icon). Be sure to use the URL with the "?tng=..." added string, which ensures that our TryLink logic is enabled.

Troubleshooting

If you are going through your TryLink and see the two-button experience rather than the TryLink experience, the issue is that you are likely missing a needed rule in the Button Visibility Rules.

Make sure that you have a rule in your Button Visibility Rules settings that applies to shoppers who go through TryLinks, i.e. a rule that has Traffic set to "Entrypoint traffic" and Button Display Result as "Show TryNow toggle."
