What is an Atomic Essay

An Atomic Essay is a 250-300 word piece that is shared as an image. It's the perfect way for beginners to start writing online.

Create a new "Atomic Essay"

Press the "New Piece" button and press "Atomic Essay" to create a new essay (or open the essay you want to publish).

Write your essay

Start by writing a headline for your essay (ps: try using Athena's Headline Review tool to get the perfect headline).

Then click into the body of the essay and start writing. A blank page can be scary, so try out one of our many Atomic Essay templates - here's how you can access them in the editor.

While you're writing, keep an eye on the twitter icon in the bottom left beside the word count. If the bird turns yellow, that means your essay might be cutoff when shared to X/Twitter.

Publish your essay

To publish your essay, press the "Publish" button in the top right of your screen. This will publish the essay to your Social Blog.

From here, you'll be prompted to enter in some tweet text. This text gets shared to X/Twitter as the tweet text, while your essay will be shared as an image.

  • To publish it now, press the blue "Publish" button.

  • To schedule it for later, press the "Schedule" button.

    • Then you can choose the date and time.

After you publish, you can also choose whether you want to also publish the essay to your X/Twitter or crosspost it to LinkedIn.
