Use Delivery Methods to efficiently manage shipments for your Sales Orders. By creating custom Delivery Methods that align with the shipping options you have available to your customers, you can easily identify orders that require the same delivery method and manage them efficiently in bulk.

Delivery Methods provide flexibility for both individual orders and customer defaults, streamlining your order fulfilment process and ensuring accurate reporting across your business.

Manage Delivery Methods

Before you can start using Delivery Methods to organize your shipments, you'll need to create the methods that match your business's shipping options. Whether you offer Collection only, Air Freight, Courier, Same-day delivery, Next-day delivery, or other shipping services, setting up these methods first ensures you can efficiently categorize and manage your orders.

Add a Delivery Method

To create a new Delivery Method:

  1. From the main menu, go to Settings > System > Delivery Method.

  2. In the "Delivery Method Name" field, enter a unique name for the method.

  3. Click Add.

The new Delivery Method will be added and will be available to select in Customer records and Sales Orders.

Edit a Delivery Method

Delivery Methods can be edited as your business needs change:

  1. Go to Settings > System > Delivery Method.

  2. Click on the Delivery Method's row.

  3. Edit the Name as required.

  4. Click away from the Delivery Method.

When you edit a Delivery Method's name, the change applies retroactively to all Customers and Sales Orders that previously used that Delivery Method. This ensures consistency across your historical data.

Obsolete a Delivery Method

When a Delivery Method is no longer going to be used, but is still applicable to existing Sales Orders it can be made obsolete. This means that the Delivery Method won't be available to select for a Customer or Sales Order, but those that currently have the Delivery Method assigned will remain unchanged.

To obsolete a Delivery Method:

  1. Go to Settings > System > Delivery Method.

  2. Along the Delivery Method's row, tick the Obsolete checkbox.

Delete a Delivery Method

If a Delivery Method has not been used and is no longer needed, it can be deleted.

To delete a Delivery Method:

  1. Go to Settings > System > Delivery Method.

  2. Click on the bin icon along the Delivery Method's row.

If you don't see a bin icon next to a Delivery Method, it means that method is currently assigned to a customer record or Sales Order and cannot be deleted.

Using Delivery Methods

The Delivery Method detail on a Sales Order can be updated at any time, whilst the order is in any status, offering you full flexibility to manage the dispatch of your orders' shipments.

To update a Sales Order's Delivery Method:

  1. Open the Sales Order.

  2. Use the Delivery Method drop-down menu to select the required method.

  3. Click Save.

Default Delivery Method

Whilst you can select the appropriate Delivery Method to assign per Sales Order, you can also set a default Delivery Method in a customer's record. Sales Orders subsequently made for the customer will then automatically apply the selected Delivery Method, streamlining your order management process.

To assign a default Delivery Method for a customer:

  1. Open the Customer record.

  2. Go to the Details tab.

  3. Use the Delivery Method drop-down menu to select their default method.

  4. Click Save.

The Delivery Method in the customer's Sales Order can be updated, regardless of the default Delivery Method.

πŸ€“ Tip: Use the Import Customers CSV template to update multiple customer default Delivery Methods simultaneously.
