Overview

Shopify Tags are a great way to organize products within collections on your Shopify Store. Shopify has a great article on how what Tags are and how to use them in Shopify.

You can add a tag on your Shopify product in Lister by creating or editing a Shopify Listing. This article walks through how to add Lister Product tags and Shopify Tags to your Shopify items.

How to Automatically Add Lister Category Tags to Shopify Listings

The "Automatically set Shopify tags based on the product category" Shopify admin setting in Lister allows you to add tags to an item automatically based on their category and subcategories.

For example, if the item listed has a category of Sports>Sporting Equipment>Bowling, “Sports,” “Sporting Equipment,” and “Bowling” will be added as tags on the listing.

This is useful if your Shopify store theme uses tags for filtering or store searchability.

When this admin setting is activated, the category tags will not be removable when listing an item. This helps ensure the product tags aren’t accidentally deleted prior to listing. All other manually added tags can be deleted.

How to Add Product Tags to Shopify Listings

The "Sync product tags to Shopify Tags" Shopify admin setting in Lister allows you to sync any tags from Lister to Shopify when creating a listing.

When this feature is activated, the Shopify Channel Options section of the listing page will not show the tags. Instead, tags can be edited from the Product Details section at the top of the listing page.

How to Map Builder Template Inputs to Shopify Listings

Certain Builder Templates inputs can be mapped to Product Tags. When combined with the above admin setting, these inputs will automatically populate the Tags field of the listing after completing the Product Attributes page of a new listing.

Tags can be mapped to the following Builder Template inputs:

  • Combo Box

  • Input

  • Radio

  • Dropdown

  • Large Input

  • Numeric Input

When these inputs are mapped to product tags, they will automatically import to Shopify if the “Sync product tags to Shopify tags” admin setting is enabled.

How to Add Shopify Tags in Listing Strategies

Using Listing Strategies to add Shopify tags on specific steps is an excellent way to draw attention to new listings published in your store or to spotlight items on sale.

For example, in step 1 of your Shopify strategy, you may want to have a “Just Arrived” tag so that the items can be easily viewable to your buyers for the first few days online. On step 2, by removing the “Just arrived” tag, your item will no longer appear in the newly listed section of your Shopify store.

On the final step of your strategy, you may want to decrease the item's price by 20% and move the item to a “Last Chance” section of your Shopify store.

Use Shopify tags in your listing strategy to add specific tags on each step.
