What are Shopify Tags

Shopify Tags are a great way to organize products on your Shopify Store.

Shopify had a great article on how what Tags are and How to use them in Shopify.

What is a use for Shopify Tags with Lister

Tags can be very beneficial when using them with Automated collections. ( Please see our Manual vs Automated Shopify collections article for more details ).

You can add a tag on your Shopify product in Lister by creating or editing the Shopify Listing.

Creating a new Listing

Editing an existing Listing

Once you have tags set up on your Shopify products via adding them to the Shopify Listings in Lister, you can create an Automated collection for these tags! Using our example screenshots above, we created a Shopify Product with a few Tags. One of these Tags being Art. We can use this tag in a new collection.

This will group all Products that have this Tag of Art into this new collection called Automated Art Collection

Automatically populate Shopify Tags with Lister Product Categories

In Lister, you can have your Shopify Listings automatically populated with tags based on the Product Category selected for the product during product creation or while editing the product.

Creating a new Product.

This new product Shopify Listing will have the tags Art and Photography automatically populated.

When this feature is turned on, the category tags will not be removable. This helps ensure the product tags are not accidentally deleted prior to listing. All other manually added tags can be deleted.

How to enable this feature

1) Navigate to your Shopify Store settings in Lister.

2) Check off the checkbox for Automatically populate tags for Shopify listings with the product categories.

3) Click Save at the bottom of the page

After this setting has been saved, whenever you create and edit a Shopify Listing, the product category will be automatically used to populate the Shopify Tag field.

Please take a look at this gif for a quick example.
