How it Works
You can think of barcodes like another language. Each line, its space, and thickness are the letters, numbers and special characters.
For example, in the above the code is “ABC-1234”. When a device scans the barcode lines, it translates the lines and can read “ABC-1234”. Kojo doesn’t support creating barcodes yet but when you do create barcodes with another tool it is as simple as inputing the code from Kojo into their input box.
For material inventory we lookup the UPC code and for tools we look up the Tool ID.
So when you have a material inventory item with a UPC of “ABC-1234” in Kojo you would add “ABC-1234” into the code generation tool you use outside of Kojo. Then when that barcode is scanned it will be tied to that inventory item.

This feature is available to all Warehouse Material Inventory and Tool Tracking customers. This feature can only be used on the mobile app, and Users must be on the latest version of the mobile app.

Browse to the Warehouse Material & Inventory tab
Tap the barcode icon at the top and give Kojo access to your mobile device’s camera
Point the camera at the barcode / QR code
On the All Inventory Tab the system will pull up any tool ID for tools or UPC codes for material matches it finds
Generating Barcodes
For material inventory we lookup the UPC code and for tools we look up the tool ID. So whatever is stored in an item’s UPC or tool ID field will be what data you should put in the barcode. For example, if you have a tool with a tool ID of “T000543” you add “T000543” into Avery.
To generate your own barcodes you can go to https://www.avery.com/software/barcode-generator/
Follow the setup instructions there.
They have a helpful how to video that can be found here.
Avery allows you to create single barcodes, upload a spreadsheet of codes, and generate sequentially numbered barcodes.
You can use any of Avery’s standard label templates for adding barcodes.
On the barcode type, select “Code 39”
We suggest using Code 39 barcodes since they are more stable and reliable than QR codes.
