Using Bump-it with myne

Learn how you can capture customer details and build loyalty with Lightspeeds Bump screen. Powered by Bump-it

Updated this week

Turn every order into a customer connection using your kitchen screens or printed dockets. myne integrates with Lightspeed Bump screen (Bump-It) to help you capture customer details after a purchase has been made — either through staff interaction or QR codes on receipts.

Using your bump-screen, you can perform card linking to a customer profile easily after the customer has transacted. This is especially useful in busy periods where the line needs to move quick or in table service situations.

How it works

There are two ways to capture customers using Lightspeeds bump screen:

1. Bump screen → staff prompt → customer connects

An order appears on your bump screen with a short instruction for staff.

Staff can then prompt the customer to connect using a link or code. We supply you with a 4 digit transaction ID and a link you can attach to a QR code that directs the customer to sign up and link their transaction after ordering.

Flow:
Order → Bump screen instruction → Staff prompts customer → Customer connects

2. Docket QR → customer scans → connects

A QR code is printed on the receipt embedded with their unique 4 digit transaction ID The customer scans it and signs up. Their payment card is linked to their profile automatically.

Flow:
Order → Printed docket → QR code → Customer connects

Step 1: Enable Bump-It

Before using this feature, you need to enable Bump-It in both platforms.

In myne:

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations

  2. Select Bump-It

  3. Toggle Enable Bump-It Integration

Log into Lightspeed and enabled Lightspeed Bump screen and ensure you have a working bump-it account.

Finally, Enable myne in the device configuration settings within your bump screen

Once enabled, myne will send order data directly to Bump — no additional setup or authentication required.

Step 2: Create an automation

Bump works through automations. In order to use the one's that are configured towards bump-it.

  1. Go to Automations → Create new automation

  2. Use the trigger: After an unknown (card) customer makes a purchase - This ensures the automation runs when a customer is not yet linked to a profile.

  3. Choose 'What should happen with it runs?' as 'Do an Action'

You now have two options inside the automation:

Option 1: Add instructions to bump screen

This shows a message directly on your bump screen for staff.

  • Choose which screen to send it to:

    • Bar, Kitchen, Pass, Coffee, Online

  • Add instructions for staff in the section "Bump screen messages"

  • Include dynamic data (like transaction ID or visit count) by using the @ in the instructions

Read Using transactions ID's below to understand how to close this loop.

Option 2: Add connection details to docket

This prints a QR code on the receipt to a connection page which has the transaction guid embedded. If the customer signs up using this QR then card linking happens.

You can:

  • Select a connection page to print

  • Add a short message (e.g. “Scan to connect with us”)

When the customer scans the QR code:

  • They are taken to your connection page

  • Their transaction is automatically linked

  • A customer profile is created

This is the easiest way to passively capture customers.

Using transaction IDs

The transaction.guid is the key to linking a purchase to a customer.

There are two ways to use it:

  1. Using Bump-it's bump to print setting which will print a QR Code for you on a docket to hand to the customer - 'Add connection details to docket' option

  2. Printing your own QR codes linked to connection page or promotions which prompt customers to enter a transaction ID when signing up.

With Bump to Print

  • The QR code automatically includes the transaction ID

  • Customer scans → signs up → card is linked

No manual input required.

Without printing (manual fallback)

You will need to print your own QR codes linked to a connection page or promotion

  1. Add transaction ID as a required field in your connection form

  2. Show the transaction GUID on the bump screen

  3. Staff writes or tells the customer the code

  4. Customer enters it when signing up

This is useful when using physical cards or verbal prompts.

Once a customer signs up:

  • Their payment card is linked

  • Their order is matched to their profile

  • Future visits are automatically tracked

You can now use myne to add them to groups and create tailored campaigns.

Example use cases

Here are a few ways venues use this:

  • Use bump to print and hand it to a customer after a transaction to encourage sign up

  • Leave a nice custom printed card with a QR and a hand-written transaction ID when a customer asks for the bill to have them sign up and earn a reward

Summary

Bump integration helps you capture customers after the transaction, when traditional POS systems usually lose visibility.

You can:

  • Use staff prompts via bump screens, or

  • Use QR codes on receipts for passive capture

Both methods turn everyday orders into long-term customer relationships.
