Step 1: Create a Campaign in Lemlist
In Lemlist, click Create Campaign and give it a name (e.g., "Twain Test").
Select Manually created and choose Email as the campaign type.
Step 2: Export from Twain
In Twain, open the campaign with messaging ready to go.
Click Export Leads and select Lemlist.
If this is your first time: you'll be prompted to enter your API key. Have it ready.
Step 3: Select Your Campaign and Export
Select the Lemlist campaign you just created.
Confirm the steps and custom variable names look correct, then click Export Leads.
Step 4: Verify Leads in Lemlist
In Lemlist, open the campaign and navigate to Leads to confirm they've been pushed across.
Step 5: Build the Sequence Using Twain Variables
Go to the Sequence tab in your Lemlist campaign.
For each step, click the personalization brackets and select the matching Twain variable (e.g., select subject for the subject line, Step 1 for the first email body).
Repeat for Step 2 and Step 3.
Add your email signature and connect your mailbox to complete the setup.
Step 6: Preview and Launch
Click Preview to see exactly how each email will look — Lemlist shows both desktop and mobile views.
Once everything looks right, launch the campaign.
💡 Tips
Your API key only needs to be entered once — Twain saves it for future exports.
The campaign must already exist in Lemlist before exporting from Twain.
Use the desktop/mobile preview in Lemlist to catch formatting issues before launch.
