Locate request software updates coming in February 2026 include a change to the way ticket numbers are formatted.
The eleven-digit ticket number assigned to a locate request will remain the same throughout the lifespan of the job. A revision number immediately follows the ticket number, indicating the version of the ticket.
The initial locate ticket is labeled as revision 000, indicating there have been no changes to the locate request information. All cancelations, relocates, and ticket edits that don’t affect the work location will result in an incremental increase to the three-digit revision number following the ticket number.
Example:
Original ticket | 20261212345-000 |
Edit to excavation method | 20261212345-001 |
Relocate | 20261212345-002 |
Edit to onsite contact | 20261212345-003 |
To edit the work location on a ticket (mapped work area and/or address fields), the user will need to cancel the ticket and resubmit the locate request under a new ticket number.
*Tip – After cancelling the ticket, use the Copy function to copy all information into a new ticket, then edit the map and/or address fields before submitting the ticket.
Users can search for the eleven-digit ticket number within their account and bring up the most recent version of the ticket, regardless of the revision number. Previous revisions can be tracked within the user’s ticket history.
Keeping the eleven-digit ticket number the same throughout the lifespan of the job allows for easier ticket tracking by all parties.
