Does my Smart Card work without internet?

The NFC tap and QR scan don't need internet, but loading your V1CE page does. For fully offline sharing, save your V1CE Wallet pass.

Does my Smart Card work without internet?

The NFC tap itself does not need internet, but the person's phone needs an internet connection to load your V1CE page. For fully offline sharing, save your V1CE page to Apple or Google Wallet.

What needs internet and what does not

Does not need internet

These parts of V1CE work without an internet connection:

  • The NFC tap between your V1CE card and another phone

  • The QR code scan (the camera reads the code without internet)

Needs internet

These parts of V1CE need an internet connection on the visitor's phone:

  • Loading your V1CE page (it is a webpage)

  • The Contact Capture form

  • Downloading your contact details via the Save Contact button

Sharing without internet

If you know you will be somewhere with poor signal (basement venues, rural areas, flights), there are two ways to share without internet:

Option 1: Apple or Google Wallet pass

Save your V1CE page to your phone's wallet. The Wallet pass stores your contact details locally on your phone. You can show the QR code to others even without internet.

Option 2: Offline QR code

V1CE offers an offline QR code feature that encodes your basic contact details directly in the QR code. When scanned, the contact details are added to the phone without needing to load a webpage.

Tips

For events with unreliable signal:

  • Save your V1CE card to your wallet before attending in case the venue has poor signal

  • The Wallet pass is also a great backup if you forget your physical V1CE card
