My V1CE card NFC redirects to the wrong link or domain

If tapping your V1CE card opens the wrong page or an unfamiliar domain, here is how V1CE re-encodes the NFC chip to point to your correct link.

Written by Akshay Kumar

If tapping your V1CE card opens the wrong page or an unfamiliar V1CE domain (for example, link.v1ce.co.uk instead of your link.v1ce.co/your-slug), the NFC chip in the card has been encoded with the wrong URL. The physical card is fine. V1CE re-encodes the NFC chip from the back-end so the next tap opens your correct V1CE page.

This article is for V1CE customers whose card taps to a generic page, an error, the wrong V1CE domain, or someone else's V1CE page.

What "wrong NFC redirect" looks like

You usually notice the wrong NFC redirect in one of these ways:

  • Tapping the card opens link.v1ce.co.uk instead of link.v1ce.co.

  • Tapping the card opens an "invalid address" error in the phone's browser.

  • Tapping the card opens a V1CE page that belongs to someone else.

  • Tapping the card opens a generic V1CE landing page rather than your page.

Each of these means the NFC chip stores a URL that does not match the V1CE page you want to share.

How V1CE re-encodes the NFC chip

V1CE re-encodes the NFC chip from the back-end. You do not need to send the card back or do anything to the chip yourself. The physical card stays in your hand the entire time.

What to send V1CE to re-encode the card

To re-encode the NFC chip on your V1CE card, send V1CE support:

  1. A clear photo of the QR code on the back of the card.

  2. The exact V1CE page link you want the card to open (for example, https://link.v1ce.co/your-slug). You can copy this from your V1CE dashboard.

V1CE re-encodes the chip on the back-end, then asks you to tap the card again to confirm it now opens the correct page.

The QR code is separate from the NFC chip

The QR code printed on the back of the card and the NFC chip inside the card are two separate things. If the NFC chip is encoded with the wrong URL but the QR code points to the right page, scanning the QR code will still work while V1CE re-encodes the chip. You can keep sharing your page that way in the meantime.

If you are on legacy V1CE Plus, Pro, or Teams software

On the legacy V1CE Plus, Pro, or Teams software, the re-encoding process is the same: send V1CE support a photo of the QR code on the back of the card and the V1CE link you want it to open. V1CE re-encodes the chip from the back-end.
