Discover how to use Comments

Updated over a week ago

The comments feature allows users to leave notes and collaborate on various items such as clients, assets, projects, and events. Comments help streamline communication and ensure all necessary details are easily accessible.

Who Can Leave Comments?

All users can leave comments, but access to specific comments depends on their permissions group. For example:

  • If a user doesn’t have permission to view client information, they won’t see comments left on a client level.

Where Can You See Comments?

Users can leave comments on the following items:

  • Client

  • Asset

  • Project

  • Event

    • Event → Photos

    • Event → Incidents

    • Event → Incidents → Photos

Additionally, comments left on photos, incidents, and incidents → photos are also displayed in the Event’s Comments tab for centralized access.

Actions with Comments

Users can perform several actions with comments:

  • Reply

    • Replying to a comment starts a thread.

    • Users can only reply to primary comments, and threads can have unlimited replies.

  • Edit

    • Only the user who created the comment can edit it.

    • Once edited, the comment is marked as “edited.”

  • Delete

    • The user who created the comment or users with appropriate permissions (e.g., Super Admin) can delete comments.

    • Deleting a primary comment does not affect its replies.

Comments on Photos

  • When a comment is left on a photo, a photo icon appears next to the comment. Clicking the icon opens a preview of the photo.

  • In the photo viewer, users can:

    • Leave comments.

    • View existing comments.

  • If a photo already has comments, the thumbnail displays a comment icon with the number of comments. Clicking the icon opens the comments tab for that photo.

Sorting Comments

Comments are sorted by their creation time:

  • New comments appear below older ones.

  • Replies are nested under their parent comment and are also sorted chronologically.

  • New replies do not change the order of primary comments.
