Creating an opportunity

How to add a new opportunity to your sales pipeline in Vantage.

To create a new opportunity, go to the Opportunities page in the left sidebar and click Add new opportunity.

The new opportunity form opens as a slide-out drawer. Fill in the following fields.

Select from existing clients. The client must exist before creating the opportunity.

Opportunity title

The name of the deal. This becomes the project title if converted.

Typically, the expected close or project start date.

Opportunity owner

Pre-fills with the logged-in user. Can be changed to any Full user.

Address name

No

Select from existing addresses or create a new one inline. If the selected client has an address, this field auto-fills with the client's address. You can override it by selecting a different address or clearing the field.

Opportunity ID

No

System-generated by default. Can be left blank or set manually.

Click Save to create the opportunity, or Save and add another to create it and immediately open a new form.

If the client does not exist yet, create them on the Clients page first, then come back to create the opportunity.

After creating the opportunity

Once saved, the opportunity opens in the drawer. From here, you can add a pricing breakdown, assign tasks, attach documents, and configure the project structure on the Config tab.

FAQ

Can I create an opportunity without a client?

A client is required to create an opportunity. If the client does not exist yet, add them to the Clients page first, then come back to create the opportunity.

Can I change the opportunity title after creating it?

The title is editable inline from the opportunity detail drawer at any time.

Can I change the opportunity owner after creating it?

The opportunity owner can be changed at any time from the Info tab. Click the Opportunity owner field and select any Full user in the workspace.

What happens to the date I set when the opportunity is converted to a project?

The date you set on the opportunity becomes the due date on the project when you convert it.

Can I create multiple opportunities for the same client?

Yes. A client can have as many opportunities linked to them as needed. Each opportunity tracks a separate deal.

Why is the address already filled in when I select a client?

Vantage auto-fills the Address name field when you select that client. You can change it to a different address, create a new one, or clear it.
