What Happens After a Reservation Is Confirmed?

Congratulations—you have a confirmed reservation! Once a traveler books your property, there are a few important steps to complete before their arrival to help ensure a smooth check-in and successful stay.

This guide explains what happens after confirmation, what hosts should review, when travelers receive check-in information, and when host payouts are released.

1. Review the Reservation Details

Once a reservation is confirmed, log in to your Vidle Housing Host Dashboard and go to Reservations.

Review:

  • Traveler name.

  • Property booked.

  • Check-in and check-out dates.

  • Number of travelers.

  • Pet information, when applicable.

  • Reservation total.

  • Reservation status.

  • Any messages from the traveler.

Make sure all reservation details are accurate and contact the traveler through Vidle Housing messaging if clarification is needed.

2. Make Sure Your Calendar Is Updated

Once the reservation is confirmed, verify that the booked dates are properly blocked on your calendar.

This is especially important if you list your property on multiple platforms.

If you use:

  • Airbnb Connect.

  • Hospitable.

  • Hostaway.

  • OwnerRez.

  • An iCal calendar URL.

Check your connected calendars to make sure the dates are accurately reflected and help prevent double bookings.

If the confirmed reservation isn't appearing correctly on your calendar, contact Vidle Housing Support as soon as possible.

3. Review Your Listing Information

Before the traveler arrives, double-check that your listing is accurate and current.

Review:

  • Property description.

  • Amenities.

  • Monthly pricing and fees.

  • House rules.

  • Check-in and check-out times.

  • Parking information.

  • Pet policies.

  • Any additional requirements disclosed before booking.

If something has changed that could materially affect the traveler's stay, communicate with the traveler and contact Support when necessary.

4. Review Your Check-In Instructions

Make sure your check-in instructions contain everything the traveler needs to access the property successfully.

Include:

  • Full property address.

  • Unit number, if applicable.

  • Parking instructions.

  • Building or gate access.

  • Smart lock, keypad, or lockbox instructions.

  • Door or access codes.

  • Wi-Fi information.

  • Important arrival details.

  • Backup access instructions when possible.

Your property's full address and check-in instructions aren't publicly visible while travelers browse the platform.

They are automatically sent to the traveler approximately 24–48 hours before their scheduled arrival date.

It's the host's responsibility to make sure this information is complete and accurate before check-in.

Keep all reservation communication through Vidle Housing messaging whenever possible.

Before arrival, travelers may have questions about:

  • Parking.

  • Property access.

  • Wi-Fi.

  • Furnishings.

  • Amenities.

  • Pets.

  • Building rules.

  • Nearby hospitals.

  • Transportation.

Respond promptly and make sure the traveler has the information needed for a smooth arrival.

6. Prepare the Property for Arrival

Before check-in, complete a final turnover and inspection.

Confirm:

  • The property is clean and ready.

  • Fresh linens and towels are available.

  • Wi-Fi is working.

  • Heating and air conditioning are functional.

  • Appliances are operational.

  • Entry codes and locks work.

  • No maintenance or safety issues are present.

  • Parking instructions are accurate.

  • Starter supplies are stocked when provided.

If you manage the property remotely, consider having your cleaner, property manager, or local contact send final photos confirming the property is ready.

7. Traveler Check-In

On the scheduled arrival date, monitor your Vidle Housing messages and notifications in case the traveler has difficulty accessing the property or has questions.

Access issues should be addressed immediately.

If a traveler is unable to access the property, encounters a serious safety issue, or arrives to a property that isn't ready, Vidle Housing Support is available to assist.

8. When Will I Receive My Payout?

Host payouts are not released until at least 24 hours after the traveler checks in.

This payout hold is an important security measure that helps prevent fraud and allows time to confirm that the traveler has successfully arrived and gained access to the property.

After the 24-hour period, eligible payouts are processed through Stripe to the host's connected payout method.

The exact time it takes for funds to reach your bank account may vary depending on:

  • Stripe processing times.

  • Your financial institution.

  • Weekends or holidays.

  • Your Stripe account status.

  • Any additional verification requirements.

Hosts must have a completed and active Stripe payout account to receive funds.

9. Why Does Vidle Housing Wait 24 Hours After Check-In?

The 24-hour payout hold helps protect the Vidle Housing community from fraudulent listings and serious check-in issues.

It provides time to confirm that:

  • The property exists and is accessible.

  • The traveler successfully checks in.

  • The property generally matches the confirmed reservation.

  • There are no immediate fraud concerns preventing the stay.

This security measure helps protect travelers while maintaining a trusted platform for legitimate hosts.

10. During the Traveler's Stay

Throughout the reservation:

  • Monitor Vidle Housing messages.

  • Respond promptly to maintenance concerns.

  • Address urgent issues as quickly as possible.

  • Keep communication documented on-platform.

  • Respect the traveler's privacy.

  • Follow applicable notice requirements before entering an occupied property.

For longer stays, you may also coordinate optional mid-stay cleaning or necessary maintenance when appropriate and properly communicated.

What If There Is a Problem After Check-In?

If the traveler reports a maintenance, cleanliness, safety, or access issue, respond promptly and work toward a reasonable solution.

For urgent situations, contact Vidle Housing Support immediately.

Depending on the circumstances, the Support Team may request:

  • Photos or videos.

  • Screenshots of communication.

  • Maintenance documentation.

  • Details about the property's condition.

  • A timeline of events.

Keeping all communication on Vidle Housing helps our team review the situation and assist both parties when needed.
