How to use Mr. and Mrs. in LinkedIn messages?

Use gender to personalize your messages

Updated yesterday

You can retrieve a prospect's gender to personalize your LinkedIn messages and segment your prospects more precisely.

How does it work?

Waalaxy uses AI (via the Genderize.io API) that automatically identifies the prospect’s gender from their first name. If the AI cannot clearly determine the gender, it will be marked as "Undetermined."

The accuracy of this AI is approximately 98%.

If necessary, you can manually adjust the gender of your prospect from their profile if it was incorrectly identified by the AI.

How to use gender in an automated LinkedIn message?

Gender can help you segment your prospects, but Waalaxy does not automatically adapt your greetings or message wording based on gender.

For example, Waalaxy will not automatically replace “Mrs.” with “Mr.” depending on the prospect’s gender. The message is always sent exactly as you wrote it.

If you want to adapt your greeting or message content by gender, you need to create one campaign per gender.

Create a campaign targeting women

💡 This example specifically targets women, but the same logic applies for men: create a separate campaign with a message written for that gender.

Prerequisites
Make sure the prospects are already connected to you and imported into your Waalaxy account.

Step 1: Choose a message sequence

  1. Click on Start a campaign > All campaign models, use the Message filter, then select a sequence.

Choose a message sequence from campaign templates

Step 2: Add women to your campaign

  1. Name your campaign.

  2. Under Add prospects, click on From my lists and select your list.

  3. Click on No, let me select.

  4. Filter by Gender: Women, then select your prospects.

Step 3: Write a personalized message

Write your message specifically for women. Since Waalaxy does not automatically adapt greetings by gender, the wording you write here will be sent exactly as-is to every prospect in this campaign.

Write a personalized message for a women-only campaign

For example, if you want to start your message with “Mrs.”, you must write it manually in this women-only campaign. To send “Mr.” instead, create a separate men-only campaign and write that version there.
