Customer Interfaces: Lobby Display Device Configuration

Written by Scott Pfeifer

Overview

Lobby Displays are on-site devices (typically televisions) that show customers real-time ticket information such as their estimated wait time and queue position. Lobby displays may also provide audio cues to customers when they are ready to be served.

The following article describes how to configure a lobby display and will need to be repeated for each device at a given location. For instructions on how to configure lobby display settings that apply to all lobby displays within a location at once, see Lobby Display Settings Page.

Ensure the Device has a Compatible Web Browser

Lobby displays must be connected to the internet and have a Chromium web browser installed. Nearly all televisions manufactured after 2016 will have a compatible browser built in. If the television's browser is not compatible, or does not have a browser at all, there are two options:

  1. If the television has an app store, search for Google Chrome and install if available.

  2. Attach a NUC (a micro PC) to the lobby display. Contact your WaitWell Account Manager for more information.

Determine Location Kiosk URL & WaitWell Key

  1. Have a WaitWell Admin log in to the WaitWell Staff App from a smartphone or desktop PC

  2. Navigate to Settings in the Left-Hand Navigation

  3. Select Customer Site/App from the Global Navigation

  4. Select Kiosk Settings from Sub-Global Navigation

  5. Take note of the URL and WaitWell Key at the top of the page

Configure WaitWell on the Lobby Display

  1. On the lobby display, open the web browser and enter https://lobby.waitwell.us/ (if in USA) or https://lobby.waitwell.ca/ (if in Canada)

  2. When prompted, enter the WaitWell Key from the previous step. The browser will only prompt for this key once, as it should be cached by the web browser

The lobby display page should now be displayed on the kiosk device. Select the hamburger menu at the top right of the page to access the Lobby Settings window

Profile

Once you've configured this device, if you'd like to copy it's settings to other devices, enter a name for it and select "Copy settings". This will save a unique URL that may be pasted into subsequent lobby display devices. The URL may be found in the WaitWell app in Settings > Customer Site/App > Lobby Settings, and selecting this:

Audio Issues

If either "ding" or "voice announcement" is enabled on a lobby display but no audio is heard, ensure the display device is not muted or turned down to an inaudible level.

If a the display device is a PC (e.g. NUC), ensure the operating system volume and browser volume are not muted or turned down to an inaudible level. Also check your browser settings to ensure audio playback is whitelisted for the URL.
