How do I log updates during a visit?

Record water, food, medication, play and more, so your client can see it.

Here's how to log updates during a walk or visit, like water, dinner or medication, so your client can see what you've done.

Log an update

  1. On the walk or visit screen, tap the Update button (the plus at the bottom).

  2. If there's more than one pet, choose who it's for, or All pets.

  3. Tap the updates you want. You can pick several.

  4. Tap Add update. Each one is added to the timeline, like "Buddy had water".

The updates you can log

  • Play: Ball throw, Played.

  • Food: Water, Treat, Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

  • Medication: Medication, Supplement.

  • Household: Brought mail in, Brought packages in, Watered plants, Took trash out, Cleaned home.

  • Grooming: Bathed, Drying, Dried, Nails cut, Haircut, Face cut, Feet cut, De-shed, Sanitary areas cut.

  • Toilet (visits only): Pee, Poop, and Litter box cleaned for cats. On walks, use the Pees and Poops counters on each dog's card instead.

  • Note: write anything, with a photo if you like.

  • Your own updates: under General and Pet. Tap New to make one. See How do I add a custom update?

Ready for pickup

On daycare, boarding and pet sitting visits, Ready for pickup tells your client straight away that their pet can be collected. It needs an internet connection.

What your client sees

  • Updates appear on the visit's timeline in the Walkies Journal app as you add them. On walks, they're pinned on the route map where they happened.

  • There's no notification for each update, only when the walk or visit starts and ends (and Ready for pickup).

Change or remove an update

  • On a visit or a finished walk, tap it in the timeline to Edit a note, Change time or Delete it.

  • On a live walk, tap its pin on the map to open or delete it.
