How do I send a photo or video to my pet sitter?

Take or pick up to 4 photos and videos and send them in Messages.

Here's how to send your pet sitter photos or videos in the Walkies Journal app. You can send up to 4 at once, with or without text.

Take a photo or video

  1. Tap Messages.

  2. Tap + to the left of the message box.

  3. Tap Take photo or video.

  4. Take the photo, or switch to video and record, then confirm it.

  5. It appears inside the message box, above your text. Type a message to go with it if you like.

  6. Tap the send button.

Choose from your library

  1. In Messages, tap + to the left of the message box.

  2. Tap Choose from library.

  3. Pick up to 4 photos and videos, and confirm.

  4. They appear inside the message box. Type a message if you like, and tap the send button.

Before you send

  • Your photos and videos sit in a row inside the message box, above your text. Swipe sideways to see them all.

  • Tap the x on one to take it out.

  • Tap + again to add more, up to 4 in one message. Any more and you'll see You can add up to 4 photos, videos or GIFs.

After you send

  • Your message shows its progress while it uploads.

  • If it can't send, you'll see Couldn't send. Tap to retry. Tap it to try again. On the web, you'll see "Couldn't send." with Retry and Remove.

  • Your pet sitter is told, and you'll see Delivered, then Read once they've seen it.

Good to know

  • If there's no +, your pet sitter's plan doesn't include photos and videos in messages. See Can I send photos, videos and GIFs to my pet sitter?

  • Videos can be up to 30 MB, which is about 4 minutes. The app makes a longer video smaller to fit if it can. On the web it can't, so the file itself must be 30 MB or less.

  • On the web on a computer, there's no Take photo or video. Use Choose from library to pick a file.

  • Photos and videos in messages are removed after 30 days. To keep one, save it first. See How do I save a photo or video?
