One day, an enterprising operations pro was sent on a quest to solve three riddles for their band of adventures:

  • How are people finding and interacting with our website?

  • Which audience segments perform best?

  • Are we meeting our conversion goals?

Alas, the people told them, "You can't answer those questions! You'll have to cross the chasm of extract-load-transform (ETL) tools, climb Mount Data Warehouse, and slay the Data Analysis dragon. It's an impossible task, and also we don't have the budget for that."

But lo! The Operations Pro found a magical tool called Wallabi that could help them cross chasms, climb mountains, and slay dragons. All they needed was a Google Analytics integration.

This is their story.

What Google Analytics data can I analyze with Wallabi?

Wallabi will automatically pull user acquisition and traffic acquisition reports from Google Analytics. If you need support for additional reports, contact our team.

Wallabi will automatically generate insights related to the following:

  • Optimizing Marketing Channel Performance - Identify which acquisition channels (e.g., organic search, paid search, social media, email campaigns) drive the highest-quality traffic.

  • Enhancing User Segmentation and Targeting - Analyze user demographics, geography, and behavior based on traffic sources to refine marketing strategies.

  • Diagnosing Website Performance Issues - Identify potential bottlenecks in the user journey related to specific traffic sources or campaigns.

And much more!

What do I need before connecting to Google Analytics?

You will need Google Chrome, the Wallabi for Chrome browser extension, and a Google or Microsoft oAuth email address. For more details on getting started with Wallabi, see here.

How do I connect to Google Analytics?

From your insight feed, select the hamburger menu in the top left corner, then select "Data" to navigate to your Data Management tab.

Select "Add data" at the bottom of your list of data sources, then select the data source you want to connect.

Be not afraid! Wallabi uses a third-party vendor called Fivetran to manage the extraction and loading of data into the Wallabi analytical cloud data warehouse. You are not charged for these costs. For additional details on the Fivetran integration, see their Google Analytics 4 connector documentation or security policies.

Select "Continue" to proceed.

Optional: You may select a custom historical time sync frame, or sync all historical data. For most customers, we recommend leaving the default option of "12 month."

Optional: You may also sync different Google Analytics properties through the Accounts sync mode. We recommend syncing all accounts unless you have specific reason to exclude certain properties from your analysis.

After making your selections, click "Save & Test" to continue.

And that's it! Wallabi has started extracting, cleaning, and modeling your data for analysis. This can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours depending on the source system and your data volume. Sit back and grab a cup of coffee. Wallabi will alert you when you can start asking questions.

Why am I seeing things related to Fivetran when I connect my data? Who is that?

Wallabi uses a third-party vendor called Fivetran to manage the extraction and loading of data into the Wallabi analytical cloud data warehouse. You are not charged for these costs. For additional details on the Fivetran integration, see their Google Analytics 4 connector documentation or security policies.

Why does it take so long for Wallabi to gather my data?

Source systems like HubSpot, Salesforce, and others impose rate limits on their APIs. Depending on your data volume, this can significantly impact the speed at which Wallabi can move data.

What Google Analytics permissions do I need to connect to Wallabi?

To connect Wallabi to Google Analytics 4, you need a Google user account with permissions to access Google Analytics accounts with Google Analytics 4 properties you'd like to sync.

How often does the data sync between Google Analytics and Wallabi?

Data is synced every 6 hours by default.

What happens to my data after my trial period has expired or I stop using Wallabi?

Wallabi will pause all syncs from the source system but retain any historical data already moved. You may continue to ask questions, but be aware that insights will likely not reflect the reality of your business until you subscribe and Wallabi updates your data.

The Wallabi team manually purges old customer data from our databases regularly. If you would like to expedite this process or have other questions/concerns, please contact support@wallabi.ai.
