Within your WebCargo account, you can specify if you’re shipping lithium batteries within the commodity, or goods type, box when looking for an option to move your cargo.

This option is currently only available for AF/KLM, Etihad & Lufthansa.

First, click on the New eBooking button, and enter your origin, destination and departure date.

Next, choose the Goods type, or Commodity, for the product you’re shipping. In this case, you would choose lithium batteries from the default list.

How to find the HS Code of the batteries you’re shipping

There are 2 ways you can find the HS Code your batteries fall under. The first is by clicking on the Goods type dropdown and selecting Lithium Batteries from the list.

Another section will appear where you should specify what type of lithium batteries you are shipping. These are either Metal or Ion lithium batteries.

Choosing either option will open different sections to specify more about the batteries in order to find the correct HS Code.

After narrowing down your selections, the HS code for your batteries will show underneath.

You can also search for the HS code directly without specifying the exact information about your batteries if you know it already. To do this, enter Lithium inside the Goods Type box as shown below.

A list of different HS Codes for lithium batteries will appear. Select the HS Code for the batteries you’re shipping from the dropdown, then enter the rest of your cargo details.

Once you’ve entered your cargo information, click on Search flights and rates. You’ll then be shown results for the airlines which allow shipments of lithium batteries. Then follow the normal procedure to complete your eBooking.
