The Turf Growth Feature on app.GreenCastConnect.com provides essential tools for tracking and optimizing turf growth based on environmental conditions.
Located on the left tab, this feature includes multiple sections for monitoring growing degree days (GDD), turf growth potential, and species-specific insights for both cool and warm-season grasses.

GreenCast Connect includes guided tours throughout the web platform. To replay the tours, navigate to Profile Settings from the left-hand menu and scroll down to Demo Tour.
Selecting Reset Demo Tour will clear your tour history and automatically replay guided walkthroughs as you visit pages throughout the platform, including the Turf Growth and GDD Trackers sections.
Growing Degree Days (GDD) Trackers
View and manage your active GDD trackers previously set up.
Add new GDD trackers tailored to specific locations or turf conditions.
Monitor accumulated growing degree days on an annual basis.
Access educational information to understand the impact of GDD on turf growth and development.
What a GDD Tracker Does
Accumulates Growing Degree Days (GDD) from a selected start date using a defined base temperature.
Supports both turf-focused and pest-focused tracking to help anticipate growth stages and pest emergence.
Displays current accumulated GDD values, daily accumulation, and forecasted GDD values for upcoming days.
Triggers an alert when a configured threshold (Accumulated GDD or Calendar Days) is reached.
Surfaces GDD threshold alerts on the Homepage and Dashboard for increased visibility.
Supports long-term trend analysis through Data Explorer alongside weather, sensor, and other agronomic data.
Creating a GDD Tracker
Create custom Growing Degree Day (GDD) trackers to monitor turf growth, pest development, and application timing based on accumulated GDD or calendar days.
To create a new GDD tracker:
Log in to app.GreenCastConnect.com.
Select Turf Growth from the left-hand navigation menu.
Scroll down to the Add GDD Tracker section.
Select Add GDD Tracker.
Configure the tracker by entering:
Tracker Name – Give the tracker a clear and descriptive name.
Threshold Metric – Select one of the following:
Accumulated GDD
Calendar Days
Threshold Value – Enter the value that will trigger the tracker alert.
Base Temperature – Select either:
Fahrenheit (°F)
Celsius (°C)
Application Target – Select the turf species or pest you want to track.
Start Date – Choose either:
Today
A specific date (such as the date of the last application)
Application Details (Optional) – Add product application information if desired.
Once all required fields have been completed, select Create Tracker.
After a GDD Tracker Is Created
Once a GDD tracker has been created, it will begin accumulating Growing Degree Days from the selected start date and display current and forecasted values.
You can manage trackers as conditions and management goals change.
Available actions include:
Edit the tracker threshold.
Pause a tracker temporarily.
Restart a paused tracker.
Archive a tracker that is no longer needed.
You can also use Data Explorer to analyze GDD trends alongside weather, sensor, and other agronomic data.
Note: GDD trackers can be used for both turf growth monitoring and pest development tracking.
Note: Once a GDD tracker has been archived, it cannot be restored.
