Key Features of the GreenCast Connect Desktop Homepage

The Homepage is the main landing page in GreenCast Connect Desktop, providing an overview of your organization's weather, sensors, alerts, maps, and key turf management information.

To access the Homepage, sign in to GreenCast Connect Desktop at app.greencastconnect.com using any supported web browser. After signing in, you'll be taken to your organization's Homepage.

Need help getting started?

GreenCast Connect includes guided tours throughout the web platform. To replay the tours, navigate to Profile Settings from the left-hand menu and scroll down to Demo Tour.

Selecting Reset Demo Tour will clear your tour history and automatically replay guided walkthroughs as you visit pages throughout the platform, including the Turf Growth and GDD Trackers sections.

Organization Overview

  • Your organization’s name is prominently displayed at the top of the homepage.

  • Provides a clear identity and context for managing your turf, landscaping, or agricultural operations.

Localized Weather Information

  • Displays real-time weather data specific to your location.

  • Includes key weather metrics for the day such as temperature, humidity, wind conditions, and precipitation.

  • Helps in planning daily operations based on current weather conditions.

High-Risk Alerts & Threshold Alerts

Displays active alerts related to weather, pest risk, growth potential, moisture, salinity, temperature, and Growing Degree Day (GDD) thresholds.

Helps identify conditions that may require attention, allowing for more proactive turf and landscape management.

Provides quick visibility into current risks and threshold-based events directly from the Homepage.

Alert Settings

Use the Filter icon in the Alerts panel on the Homepage to customize which alert categories are displayed.

Available alert categories include:

  • Pest Risk

  • Growing Degree Days (GDD)

  • Growth Potential

  • Weather

  • Moisture

  • Salinity

  • Temperature

Enable or disable individual alert categories and select Save to update the Alerts panel.

Note: Alert Filters only control which alerts are displayed in the Alerts panel. They do not change alert thresholds or mobile notification settings. Mobile push notifications and notification preferences are managed separately within the GreenCast Connect mobile app.

Sensor Overview

  • Provides a List Overview of all monitored areas, including the current online/offline status of installed sensors and quick access to sensor measurements.

  • Key metrics displayed include:

    • Soil Salinity – Helps track and manage soil health.

    • Soil Moisture Levels – Ensures proper irrigation planning.

    • Soil Temperature – Assists in understanding plant and turf growth conditions.

  • Allows quick assessment of sensor data for informed decision-making.

  • Users can expand each sensor entry to view a graph of the levels over time.

  • Includes filtering options to customize which sensors and data points are displayed for easier analysis.

Sensor Connection Status

The List Overview on the Homepage makes it easy to monitor the connection status of your sensors at a glance.

Each area displays the current online status of its assigned sensors. For example, "All online (3/3)" indicates that all three sensors in that area are currently connected and reporting data.

From the List Overview, you can:

  • Quickly confirm whether sensors are online and communicating.

  • See how many sensors are online within each area.

  • Expand an area to view individual sensor readings and historical graphs.

  • Identify areas that may require troubleshooting if one or more sensors appear offline.

If a sensor is offline, check the individual sensor details, refer to the sensor troubleshooting or contact support (see bottom of page for details).

Understanding Areas and Sensors

  • Areas are named zones on your property (for example, “Green 1”, “Tee 4”, or “Fairway 7”). Each area can hold one or more sensors and stores its own area type, soil type, and grass species.

  • Sensors are the physical devices installed in an area — Spiio™ GCX soil sensors and, where available, Aero™ GCX microclimate sensors. Each sensor reports the measurements supported by its type.

Interactive Satellite Map

  • Displays a satellite view of your organization’s location.

  • Shows the placement of all installed sensors for easy monitoring.

  • Sensors can be clicked on to view detailed real-time data and historical trends.

  • Enhances visualization of environmental conditions across different locations.

Editing Area & Place Settings

To edit an area on GCX Desktop, click the sensor directly on the satellite map to open its panel, then select the Area Settings tab at the top of the page. Use the pencil (edit) icons to update each setting.

Area settings

  • Area Type — for example, Green, Tee, or Fairway.

  • Soil Type — for example, Clay-Heavy Soil or Sandy Loam.

  • Species (Cool Season / Warm Season) — set the grass species for the area.

    • Changing the species can update the thresholds and recommendations shown for sensors in that area.

Place settings

  • Place Name — rename the place (the sensor location) using the pencil icon next to its name.

  • Depth — record or update the installation depth of the sensor.

  • Notes — add or edit notes for the installation.

Threshold

  • Threshold Profile — assign or edit the threshold profile applied to the area (for example, Default Threshold) using the pencil icon.

Switch to the Sensor Data tab in the same panel to view that sensor’s readings. Use the All Sensors / Spiio Soil Sensor / Aero Microclimate Sensor filter at the top of the map to focus on a specific sensor type.
