Why Use a Preferred Channel?

If multiple channels are available, setting a Preferred Channel ensures:

  • SMS messages are always sent from your chosen default channel/number.

  • You maintain consistency in customer communication.

  • You save time by not needing to select a channel every time you send a message.

For example, if you have one number for your Voice AI agent and another for SMS campaigns, you can set the SMS channel as your default for texting customers.

How to Set a Preferred Channel

  1. Go to Settings

    • From your Whippy dashboard, click on the Settings tab.

  2. Open Preferences

    • Inside Settings, select Preferences.

  3. Choose Preferred Channel

    • Find the Preferred Channel option.

    • Select the channel (phone number or agent) you want to send SMS from by default.

  4. Save Changes

    • Confirm your selection to set it as your default channel for sending SMS.

Important Notes

  • The Preferred Channel is simply your predefined/default channel.

  • You can still change the sending channel at any time when composing or sending a message.

  • This setting is helpful when you want Whippy to automatically pick the correct channel most of the time, but still gives you flexibility when needed.
