Why it matters

Following up with contacts after a campaign is essential for improving engagement and ensuring your message reaches the right people. Whippy’s follow-up tools let you select specific groups of contacts based on how they interacted with your campaign, then take bulk actions such as creating a quick campaign, unsubscribing users, adding them to sequences, or updating tags and lists.

Key Concepts

Analytics tabs: Filters in campaign analytics such as Delivered, Not Delivered, Responded, Unresponded, Link Clicked, and Link Not Clicked.

Bulk selection: Allows you to select individual contacts or all contacts in a tab at once.

Activity panel: A panel that appears at the bottom of the screen after selecting contacts. It contains the available bulk actions.

Quick campaign: A simple campaign you can send immediately or schedule, populated automatically with your selected contacts.

Step-by-Step: Follow Up with Campaign Contacts

  1. Go to Campaigns.

Navigate to the Campaigns page and open the completed campaign you want to follow up on.

  2. Click View results.

This opens the analytics view for your selected campaign.

  3. Choose a segment to follow up with.

Select the tab that matches the contacts you want to reach. For example:

    • Unresponded

    • Responded

    • Delivered

    • Not delivered

    • Link Clicked

    • Link Not Clicked

  4. Select your contacts.

Use the checkboxes to select contacts individually, or click the top checkbox to Select all.

  5. Open the activity panel.

After selecting contacts, an activity panel appears at the bottom of the screen.

This replaces the older “Send message” button functionality.

  6. Choose a follow-up action.

From the activity panel, select one of the following:

    • Create campaign (creates a quick campaign pre-filled with your selected contacts)

    • Unsubscribe

    • More (options include add to sequence, remove from sequence, add tags, overwrite tags, unassign tags, add to lists, overwrite lists, unassign from lists)

  7. Create a quick campaign (optional).

If you select Create campaign, a quick campaign modal opens.

    • Choose your sending channel

    • Confirm the included contacts

    • Choose to send immediately or schedule for later

    • Write your follow-up message

    • Click Send

Tips and Best Practices

  • Use follow-ups to maintain momentum. Contacts who didn’t respond the first time may respond the second time.

  • Tailor your message based on the segment (for example, send a reminder to unresponded contacts or a next-step message to link-clickers).

  • Consider batch sending if your follow-up audience is large.

  • Review exclusion rules and unsubscribe status before sending a follow-up.

  • Use tags or lists to organise contacts for future campaigns.
