WiseEye Camera Firmware Update Guide

Updated over 4 months ago

Initiating a firmware update process for your WiseEye Cameras is an exciting step towards unlocking new features and optimizing performance. While the process is generally smooth, understanding the nuances of what happens after the update is crucial to ensure a seamless experience. Here's a detailed guide on what to expect and how to troubleshoot if things don't go as planned.

What to Expect After a Firmware Update:

Temporary Remote Control Disablement: After initiating the firmware update, your Remote Control will be disabled for a maximum of 72 hours. This period is essential for the camera and HuntControl to synchronize and release the newly added features seamlessly.

Camera Activity During Update: While the firmware update itself takes only about 5 minutes, your cameras will remain active during the rest of the process, capturing pictures and videos as usual. This ensures continuous surveillance during the update process.

Post-Update Activation Time: It might take up to 72 hours for HuntControl to communicate effectively with the camera, recognizing the update and enabling the new features. Patience is key during this period.

Settings Reset: Once the Remote Control is accessible again after 72 hours, be mindful that all your settings will revert to default. It is imperative to reset them according to your preferences.

4 Times Daily Mode: Following the settings reset, your camera will default to 4 Times Daily mode. Resetting your preferences may take up to 6 hours for the camera to receive and implement the new commands. It could also take up to 24 hours before you see these changes take place via the Daily Report.

Firmware Verification: Confirm the success of the firmware update by checking the camera's firmware version through the Daily Report button on the Remote Control. Ensure the firmware version matches the latest release.

What to Do If Your Camera Didn't Update:

Low Battery Threshold: Ensure your camera has at least 10.5v or 70% battery before initiating the update. If the update fails, insufficient power might be the culprit. *Most common issue

Signal Strength Check: Verify that your camera has a strong enough signal to download the firmware update files. Weak signals can lead to unsuccessful updates.

Sequential Commands: To optimize performance, send commands to the camera one at a time. Multiple commands before initiating the update may cause the update to fail.

Emergency Situations:

In the rare event that you cannot get the update to go take place, or your camera doesn't turn on after a firmware update, please contact the office with the camera in hand at 225-478-4026 for assistance.

Conclusion: Understanding the post-firmware update landscape is crucial for a positive WiseEye Camera experience. Follow these guidelines to ensure a smooth transition and make the most out of the new features released with the latest update.
