NPS definition and calculation

The Net Promoter Score is an indicator that allows you to evaluate the recommendation probability from your customers.

The NPS (Net Promoter Score) is a score of 100 to -100 obtained from the following question: "Would you recommend the store [...]" (0 = No, not at all; 10 = Yes, absolutely).

Your customers will then be divided into 3 categories according to the rate assigned :

  • Between 0 and 6, the client is considered as a detractor.

  • 7 or 8, the customer is considered as a passive.

  • 9 or 10, the client is considered as a promoter.

Calculation of the NPS :

NPS = % promoters (9-10) - % detractors (0-6)

For example, if 70% of your customers gave a score of 9 or 10 and 20% gave a score between 0 and 6, then the NPS score will be 70-20=50. Be careful, this score is not a percentage !
