How do I manage co-teachers in Writable?

You can assign your colleagues as co-teachers to any class you create in Writable, or see your co-taught classes using these directions.

Updated this week

In Writable, co-teachers in a class can grade student work, see student growth over time, assign to classes, and access all assignments given to the class they co-teach.

Note: If your classes are imported from HMH Ed, Google Classroom, Schoology, or Canvas, co-teachers will import from those platforms into Writable. You do not need to set up co-teachers in Writable.

Add a co-teacher to your Writable class

If your classes are linked to HMH Ed, Google Classroom, Schoology, or Canvas you will need to manage co-teachers in the LMS.

  1. Click 'Classes' at the top of your account and click the class where you'd like to add the Co-Teacher.

  2. Click 'New Co-Teacher'.

  3. Type in your colleague's email address and click 'Add Co-Teacher'. Make sure to use the email address they use to log into Writable!

Note: You cannot add a co-teacher until they have logged into Writable at least once.

  4. When you go back to the 'Classes' view, you'll see your Co-Teacher listed underneath your name.

Reassign and remove co-teachers

Follow these steps to reassign classes to a different primary teacher or remove co-teachers.

  1. On the Classes page, click a class title to open the details.

  2. Click "Reassign" next to the primary teacher.

  3. Use the dropdown to select the new primary teacher and then click "Confirm and Reassign."

  4. To remove a co-teacher, click the - icon next to the co-teacher's name and then confirm.

Note: Co-teachers from a connected LMS, such as Google Classroom, Schoology, Canvas, and Ed, cannot be removed in Writable. They will need to be removed from the course in the LMS and the change will sync to Writable.

View your co-taught classes and assignments

To see all of the classes you co-teach, just log into your account and click 'Classes.' You will see a section labeled 'Co-Taught Classes'.

To view your co-taught assignments, click 'My Assignments' at the top of your teacher dashboard. You will see a section labeled 'Co-Taught Assignments'.

Tip! If you have a large number of assignments and classes, you can use the search bar and the class dropdown at the top of My Assignments to filter what is shown.
