Cancelling an Event
If you need to cancel an event, YourKind gives you the tools to handle it yourself. There is no automatic cancellation process. You are responsible for communicating with your attendees and initiating refunds.
Steps to Cancel an Event
Go to your Dashboard and select the event you need to cancel.
Remove all available tickets so no new tickets can be sold.
Notify your attendees. Use YourKind's built-in SMS or Email tools to send a message to everyone who purchased tickets.
Go to Marketing, select the audience for that event, and send a blast explaining the cancellation.
Issue refunds
Go to the Breakdown tab within the event
Click the Refund button on each ticket. and refund each order individually.
Do Attendees Get Refunded Automatically?
No. Refunds are not issued automatically when you cancel or archive an event. You need to manually initiate refunds from the Orders page. This gives you control over how and when refunds are handled.
Communicating the Cancellation
YourKind makes it easy to reach all ticket holders quickly:
SMS blast all attendees for that event; and/or
Email all ticket holders with details about the cancellation and refund process.
You can send both from the Marketing section of your dashboard. Filter your audience by the specific event to target only affected attendees.
What About YourKind's Fees?
YourKind's service fees on processed transactions are non-refundable. When you refund an attendee, they receive back the ticket price, but the platform processing fee is not returned to you as the organiser.
โ ๏ธ Caution
Always notify your attendees before issuing refunds so they know what to expect. A clear, honest message goes a long way.
