The Zylpha OCR utility can be used to compress your PDF files. The compression utility is intended for use on individual documents before they are added to a bundle - using compressed documents in your bundle will reduce the final PDF file size.
To begin compressing your documents, you must first navigate to the compression utility. This can be found by clicking "Utilities" in the menu, and then selecting the compression utility.
With the compression utility open, select your document and it's save location; this is explained below:
File to compress - Click in this field and then select the PDF document you wish to compress. You can either use the File Explorer built in to Zylpha or click Browse and use Windows File Explorer.
Save location - This field will tell you where the compressed PDF will be saved. It will default to the same location that the original file is from. If this is not the desired destination you can edit the path manually, or use the File Explorer to select the save location.
Compress images? - Checking this box will apply compression to any images in your selected PDF.
Image quality - This field allows you to changes the compression level on the images in your PDF between 10 and 90. Higher will mean a larger file size and a better quality image, whereas lower will produce a smaller file size with less quality.
Remove metadata? - Checking this box will remove metadata from your compressed PDF. Removing the metadata will remove any hyperlinks or bookmarks in the PDF.
File compression level - There are three levels of compression availabile:
Best speed - fastest compression speed, larger file size.
Normal - medium compression speed, medium file size.
Best compression - slowest compression speed, smallest file size.
View PDF document - Checking this box will automatically open the compressed document after compression is complete.
Compress - Clicking this button will compress your selected document and save this to your selected save location.
