What is Two-factor authentication?

Two-factor authentication, otherwise known as 2FA or two-step verification is an extra layer of security in which users provide two separate ways to verify themselves before they can access their account. It goes without saying that this extra level of security is needed when it comes to protecting your asset, and as a means of ensuring that no one can compromise your account.

How do you set up your 2FA on your Bitnob account?

To set up your 2FA on your Bitnob account, follow the steps below:

  • Tap "Actions" at the bottom of the app's homepage

  • Tap "Settings"

  • Scroll down to Security

  • Tap "Set up 2FA"

  • Tap "Setup Two-Factor Authentication"

  • If you already have the authenticator app, copy the setup key or scan the QR code with another phone

  • Once you have copied the setup key, open your authenticator app on your phone

  • Name your account as "Bitnob"

  • Paste the copied setup key

  • A six-digit code will appear

  • Copy the six-digit code generated for you and paste it into your Bitnob app to enable 2FA, and tap "Enable"

  • Copy the Recovery Code shown and save for future use.

*** Do not delete your authenticator after setting up 2FA on your account. Please note that you would be required to paste the six-digit code generated from your authenticator into your Bitcoin account after your email and password at every time you want to log in.
