How to Allow Access to Your Microphone and/or Webcam

How to grant access to your microphone/webcam for Acuity Insights Assessments

Access to your webcam and microphone during your Casper test is mandatory for identity assertion and proctoring purposes. It is also required when completing Snapshot.

If prompted with a pop-up in your chosen browser, always “allow” for both the microphone and webcam to be accessed while completing Casper and Snapshot.

If you haven’t been prompted, or are unsure if your microphone or webcam have been granted access for Casper and Snapshot, please follow the steps below (based on the browser you’re using) to ensure they are enabled.

Chrome Browser:

  1. Select the icon with three vertical dots located at the top right-hand side of your address bar

  2. Select Settings

3. Under Privacy and Security in the menu on the left-hand side, select Site Settings

4. Under Microphone or Webcam, turn on the feature that says “Ask before accessing”

5. If https://my.acuityinsights.app is listed under the “Blocked” section, please remove/delete it (using the garbage can icon). If it does not appear in the list, you may be prompted to allow access via a pop-up window the next time you access our website. Please ensure that you click “allow” if prompted.

Firefox Browser:

  1. Select the icon with three horizontal lines located on the top right-hand side of your address bar

  2. Select Options

3. Select Privacy & Security in the menu on the left-hand side

4. Scroll down to the Permissions section

5. Select the Settings button for the Microphone or Camera option

6. If https://my.acuityinsights.app is listed with a “Block” status, change this to “Allow”. If it does not appear in the list, you may be prompted to allow access via a pop-up window the next time you access our website. Please ensure that you click “allow” if prompted.

7. Select Save Changes

Please note: Chrome and Firefox are the only browsers that support Acuity Insights and acuityinsights.app. If needed, you can download the latest versions of these browsers HERE. All other browsers (e.g. Safari, Explorer, Edge, etc.), as well as Smartphones and Tablets do not support the TakeAltus website.
