Some devices like 2-in-1 laptops or hybrids (e.g. Microsoft Surface) come with two built-in cameras:
A front-facing (user-facing) camera
A rear-facing camera
To complete your Casper or some other Acuity Assessments Assessment, you must use the front-facing camera.
Dual-Camera Device Users: Important Note
If you're using Chrome on a device with two cameras:
It may be able to trigger the correct front camera for the initial webcam check
But once the test begins, it usually switches to the rear camera by default.
In this case, our proctoring team will pause your test and ask you to switch to Firefox.
If your device has two cameras, you must use Firefox to complete Casper.
Steps to Select the Correct Camera in Firefox
Open Firefox and click the menu icon (three horizontal lines in the top-right corner)
Select Settings or Options
Go to Privacy & Security
Scroll down to Permissions, then click Camera Settings
If
