What can you do during optional breaks?

Activities allowed during your breaks in the Casper test

Updated over a week ago

Depending on your type of the Casper test, you may have up to two optional breaks:

  • First Break (up to 10 minutes): This happens after the video response section.

  • Second Break (up to 5 minutes): This happens after the first four typed response sections.

(Note: The second break is not available for Australian Teacher Education applicants.)

What can you do during a break?

During either optional break, you are free to step away from your device and testing room. Here are some things you may do:

  • Use the restroom

  • Check your phone

  • Talk to someone

  • Have a quick snack

  • Stretch or walk around

Important reminders

  • The timer continues during your break and you must come back to complete other sections of Casper afterwards.

  • After your second break, you’ll need to take a photo of yourself using your webcam for security.

(You will not need to upload or show an ID during the Casper test.)

  • When you return, continue your test in line with the Acuity Insights Terms of Use.
