A user is classified as a Supervisor when both of the following are true:
The user has a phone number on their profile
The user has ANVL Manager (ADMIN) access
Supervisor status is a system classification—not a job title. It affects reporting, selection lists, and oversight workflows. If you receive the error one_or_more_users_are_supervisors during bulk updates or inactivation, Supervisor status must be removed before the action can proceed.
Answer
To remove Supervisor status, remove either the phone number or the ANVL Manager (ADMIN) access from the user profile in the Admin Portal. Once one of these criteria is removed, the user is no longer classified as a Supervisor.
Steps
Where Supervisors Appear
Users with Supervisor status appear in several places across ANVL:
As selectable options when assigning a Supervisor to another user
In Supervisor selection lists
In Supervisor-related filters in Power BI reports
In oversight, alerting, and reporting workflows
Impact of Removing Supervisor Status
When Supervisor status is removed from a user:
They can no longer be assigned as another user’s Supervisor
They no longer appear in Supervisor selection lists
They no longer appear in Supervisor-related filters in Power BI reports
What Happens When Inactivating or Updating a Supervisor
When attempting to move, update, or inactivate a user who is classified as a Supervisor, the ANVL Admin Portal may return the error:
one_or_more_users_are_supervisors
This indicates that Supervisor status must be removed before the action can proceed.
Bulk inactivation results showing one_or_more_users_are_supervisors in the errorType column.
Option 1: Remove Supervisor Status in the Admin Portal (Recommended for Bulk Work)
Open the User Management tab in the ANVL Admin Portal
Filter or search to locate the user(s)
Remove either:
The phone number, or
ANVL Manager (ADMIN) access
Save the change
Refresh the web page
Confirm changes were successful
Re-run the bulk update or inactivation
