What Defines Supervisor Status in ANVL

A user is classified as a Supervisor in ANVL when both of the following are true:

  • The user has a phone number on their profile

  • The user has ANVL Manager (ADMIN) access

Supervisor status is a system classification, not a job title.

Where Supervisors Appear

Users with Supervisor status appear in several places across ANVL:

  • As selectable options when assigning a Supervisor to another user

  • In Supervisor selection lists

  • In Supervisor-related filters in Power BI reports

  • In oversight, alerting, and reporting workflows

Impact of Removing Supervisor Status
When Supervisor status is removed from a user:

  • They can no longer be assigned as another user’s Supervisor

  • They no longer appear in Supervisor selection lists

  • They no longer appear in Supervisor-related filters in Power BI reports

What Happens When Inactivating or Updating a Supervisor

When attempting to move, update, or inactivate a user who is classified as a Supervisor, the ANVL Admin Portal may return the error:

one_or_more_users_are_supervisors

This indicates that Supervisor status must be removed before the action can proceed.

Bulk inactivation results showing one_or_more_users_are_supervisors in the errorType column.

⏱️When to Do This

  • A bulk inactivation fails

  • You see the error one_or_more_users_are_supervisors in Admin Portal results

  • A user should no longer act as a Supervisor and should not appear in Supervisor-based reporting or selection lists

🛠️Option 1: Remove Supervisor Status in the Admin Portal (Recommended for bulk work)

  1. Open the User Management tab in the ANVL Admin Portal

  2. Filter or search to locate the user(s)

  3. Remove either:

    • The phone number, or

    • ANVL Manager (ADMIN) access

  4. Save the change

  5. Refresh the web page

  6. Confirm changes were successful

  7. Re-run the bulk update or inactivation

🛠️Option 2: One-Off Fix via Users Tab (Recommended for individual users)

For single-user fixes, it may be faster to Use the Users tab in ANVL Manager. Follow the steps here: Remove Supervisor Status from a User (Site-Level Admin)

⚠️Watch Out For…

  • Removing Supervisor status may affect alerts, oversight, or reporting

  • Supervisor re-assignment requires Group alignment

  • Bulk updates will continue to fail until Supervisor status is resolved
