How do I use the Power BI Raw Data Report?

The Raw Data report provides a complete, flat view of all workflow data captured in ANVL.

The Raw Data tab is primarily designed for analysts, administrators, and advanced users who want full flexibility to explore or export data.

Answer

Use the Open Text Analysis report to review and analyze free-text responses captured in ANVL workflows. This report helps you understand what users are actually saying in comments, descriptions, and other open-text fields.

It is especially useful when you want to:

  • search for specific words or phrases

  • identify recurring themes or concerns

  • find early warning signs that may not appear in checklist data

  • drill into the workflows where an issue was mentioned

This report is one of the best ways to hear the “voice of the frontline” and turn comments into actionable insight.

Steps

  1. Open the ANVL Power BI reports.

  2. Open the Open Text Analysis page.

  3. Apply filters as needed, such as:

    • Group / site

    • Workflow

    • Supervisor

    • Employee

    • Job Title

    • specific questions or answers

  4. Use the text search feature.

    • Enter a keyword or phrase such as fire or traffic

    • Review every place that word appears in open-text responses

    • Open the related workflows if you need more context

  5. Use the search feature to look for patterns.

    • Search for repeated hazards

    • Search for recurring equipment or process issues

    • Search for words that may signal frustration, urgency, or escalation

  6. Review the word cloud.

    • Use it to identify frequently mentioned words or phrases

    • Select a word to filter the report to that topic

    • Review which sites, roles, or supervisors are mentioning it most often

  7. Drill into the results.

    • Review individual responses

    • Look at trends over time

    • Open the source workflows for context before deciding on action

  8. Export the data if needed.

    • Use the export options to download the dataset as Excel or CSV

    • Perform additional analysis outside Power BI if needed

  9. Use this report together with Escalations & Actions when possible.

    • Use Escalations & Actions to understand structured issue patterns

    • Use Open Text Analysis to understand the narrative behind those issues

  10. Before taking action, review the context.

  • A keyword alone may not tell the full story

  • Open the related workflows to confirm what the user actually meant

Additional details

  • Searching punctuation such as ! can sometimes help surface urgency or frustration.

  • This report is especially useful for early risk detection because it can reveal issues that are not captured in structured workflow responses.

  • Combining filters with keyword searches usually produces the most useful results.

  • This report is best for identifying themes and signals, not just isolated comments.
