When browsing job opportunities on various platforms, you may find that the visibility of certain positions doesn't meet your expectations. It's important to remember that job boards function as search engines and track your search history. If you repeatedly search for the same job to assess its visibility but don't apply, these platforms may interpret this as disinterest and push the position further down your list. To address this, consider conducting your job searches using an incognito or private browsing window to prevent your search history from influencing the visibility of relevant positions.

If you've tried searching in an incognito window and still feel that your visibility is less than optimal, we've compiled a list of job visibility Do's and Don'ts to help guide you.

Do's

Increase your visibility for free

  • One of the very first things you can do to increase your job visibility is make edits to your job descriptions. Crafting job titles and descriptions that resonate with job seekers is crucial for maximizing exposure and attracting quality candidates. By using job seeker-friendly titles and detailed descriptions, you not only increase the likelihood of your job postings appearing in relevant searches but also improve the chances of attracting candidates who are genuinely interested and well-suited for the role. Please take a look at our Help Center article that will guide you on how to write and edit job descriptions that are set up for optimal visibility.

  • Salary is a critical factor for job seekers when considering a new position. Having clear insight into expected salary ranges can help job seekers make informed decisions about which opportunities to pursue. Be sure to always add salary information.

  • Create a company page on Indeed. Indeed Company Pages give job seekers an overview of your company culture, work environment, mission, values, benefits and perks. This can also let job seekers know what makes your company special and why they should want to work for you.

    • On your company profile, applicant will most likely look at your company reviews from former and current employees. Encourage current employees to review your company to help your business stand out from other employers. Here are some tips from Indeed on this topic.

  • Make sure your jobs are connected to your career page on your website. This is added exposure and will let job seekers from your website apply directly.

  • LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional network with hundreds of millions of members. We suggest creating a company LinkedIn account and connect that to Apploi. Having an account would not only broaden your talent pool, it would also help build your overall online presence on a more professional network.

Increase your visibility with paid sponsorship

  • If the free options above don't seem to be working, you have the ability to add sponsorship to your jobs. Within the platform, you are able to sponsor your jobs on Indeed to gain some additional exposure and traffic for your jobs.

Don'ts

  • Steer clear of posting similar jobs in the same or nearby locations. For instance, if you have multiple Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) openings with different shifts (AM, PM, NOC), consolidate them into a single job posting with the shift details included in the description. Apploi has a Job Openings feature that will allow you to internally keep track of the different openings you have for a position.

  • Refrain from including email addresses, phone numbers, or links to apply elsewhere in the job description or job title.

  • We understand that you may want to add information to the job title (such as HIRING NOW!, 12/hr PTO, Apply Today!) to attract top talent. However, symbols, clickbait, and extraneous information could discourage job seekers from applying, because they may perceive that the title is not from a trustworthy source. Many job board may also block your job from their sites if this information is added.
