Introduction
The Appstle Subscription app lets you create and manage subscription plans within your Shopify store. This guide will walk you through the steps needed to configure your app and customize your subscription offerings, including products, billing types, and visibility settings.
Step-by-Step Guide to Configuring Your Subscription Plan
Accessing the Configuration Page:
Configuring Subscription Plan Details
Plan Name:
The Plan Name field allows you to assign a custom name to your subscription plan. This is purely for internal organization and is not visible to customers.
Adding Products to the Plan:
Select the products you want to offer for subscriptions. You can browse through your product collections or select from your full product list.
Subscription Frequency:
By default, a subscription frequency (e.g., monthly) is already set. You can edit this or add multiple frequency options (e.g., weekly, monthly) to allow customers flexibility in choosing their preferred frequency.
Billing Type Settings
1. Pay As You Go:
This plan automatically charges customers based on the order frequency they choose (e.g., monthly, weekly).
Example: If a customer signs up for a monthly subscription, they will be billed automatically every month, and the cycle continues until they cancel.
2. Prepaid One-Time:
Customers pay upfront for a set number of deliveries, and the subscription ends once all orders are fulfilled.
Example: A customer pre-pays for six months of deliveries, billed upfront, with shipments arriving every month.
3. Prepaid Auto-Renew:
Customers pay upfront for their subscription, and the plan renews automatically until canceled by either the customer or the business.
Example: A customer signs up and pays for a monthly subscription, but the plan renews automatically each month.
4. Prepaid Separate Orders:
This model is a workaround for customers who prefer not to use the default Prepaid One-Time plan, where Shopify’s algorithm sets up fulfillment for the same order.
With the Prepaid Separate Orders plan, separate orders are generated for each fulfillment, giving you more control over individual deliveries.
Note: This workaround has some limitations. You can find more details in this article: Prepaid Separate Orders.
Subscription Display Settings
1. Frequency Name:
This is the text that will appear on your product page when customers select a subscription. It helps to define the options like "Monthly" or "Weekly" for clarity.
2. Show Description:
Use this field to provide additional details about the subscription on the product page. This description is visible to customers beneath the frequency name.
3. Charge on Specific Days:
This allows you to select a specific renewal day for all recurring orders. By default, orders renew on the same day of the month as the initial order, but you can set specific renewal days if needed.
4. Offer Incentives:
Add discounts to encourage customers to subscribe. You can offer percentage-based or fixed-amount discounts, which will appear during the subscription process.
Policies Settings
Inventory Policy:
On Sale: The product is deducted from inventory when the sale is made.
On Fulfillment: The product is deducted from inventory only when the order is fulfilled.
Cancellation Policy:
This section lets you set a minimum number of billing cycles before customers can cancel their subscription. By default, customers can cancel immediately after the first order.Automatic Expiration:
Choose how many billing cycles a customer can remain subscribed. By default, the subscription remains active indefinitely unless manually canceled.
Visibility & Customization Settings
Require Specific Tags:
Limit subscriptions to specific customers using Shopify Tags. This setting can be useful if you want to restrict subscription access to certain groups.
Exclude Specific Tags:
Prevent certain customers from accessing the subscription option by excluding them based on specific tags.
Custom Fields:
Collect additional information from customers during the subscription purchase process. You can set these fields as optional or required, and the data will be visible for each subscriber’s profile.
Conclusion
Configuring the Appstle Subscription app is straightforward, allowing you to customize subscription plans to suit your business needs. From creating subscription plans to setting billing cycles and offering discounts, the app gives you full control over how subscriptions are managed.
